Restaurant Food Registration QR Codes in Türkiye: How to Check and Report a Concern
A restaurant or café in Türkiye may display a food-business QR code. It can show registration details and the latest recorded inspection date, but it cannot guarantee that your meal is safe.
What is the food-business QR code?
Covered food retailers and mass-catering businesses, including restaurants and cafés, display the code where customers can see it. The requirement began on 28 July 2025 for covered businesses; specific exemptions exist, so do not assume the same requirement applies to every activity.
It is different from a digital menu QR code used to show dishes and prices. A business may display both or use another way to show its menu.
How to check the code
What the result can show
| Detail | How to use it | What it does not establish alone |
|---|---|---|
| Business name and address | Compare the location and registered identity | Safety of every dish |
| Registration or approval number | Identify the business in the system | A rating of your meal |
| Latest official inspection date | See when the last recorded check occurred | The detailed result or food safety today |
The presentation and app name can change; follow current instructions within the official service. Avoid unknown links and do not share payment details to check a code.
If the code is missing or details do not match
Ask staff for the food-business code and compare the name and address shown by the service. If it will not open, try the official app or ask for registration details; a phone or connection failure does not establish a violation.
If concerned, record the venue name, address, visit date and what you observed without asserting that a violation occurred. Report a food concern through the 174 food line or contact the relevant provincial or district agriculture and forestry office; describe the facts and keep any case number provided.
What this check can and cannot tell you
Matching identity and an inspection date helps identify a business and its recorded oversight. It does not reveal the detailed inspection result or guarantee the safety of a particular dish, equipment or ingredients on the day.
If you have a food allergy, ask about ingredients and shared equipment; the code does not replace confirmation from the kitchen. If you notice a food problem, keep the receipt, packaging and available details and contact the appropriate authority.

Frequently asked questions
Is the menu code the food-business code?
Not necessarily; ask for the food-business code used to check registration details.
Does an inspection date mean the food is safe?
No. The date alone does not show the detailed outcome or guarantee the safety of today’s meal.
Does a missing code immediately prove a violation?
There may be exceptions or circumstances requiring checks. Ask the business and report concerns to the authority.
Can I report details that do not match the venue?
Yes. Record the name, address and issue and contact the 174 food line.
Is the code enough if I have a food allergy?
No. Ask the restaurant about ingredients and cross-contact and follow your own allergy plan.
