📌 At a glance:
An accurate residential address record (adres kaydı) is important for residence procedures and many other services. Depending on your status and local procedure, address registration may involve the civil-registration directorate (Nüfus Müdürlüğü) or provincial migration directorate (İl Göç İdaresi Müdürlüğü).
  • Residence applications and renewals.
  • Banking checks.
  • School or university administration.
  • Other public-service procedures.
This guide explains the usual preparation and checks. The authority handling your case determines the required documents and appointment route.

1️⃣ 🏠 When should you register or update an address?

  • Review the record when:
    • Moving to another home.
    • Renewing a residence permit after an address change.
    • Registering family members at the same home.
    • Moving after marriage.
  • Do not wait until the next renewal to report a move. Official civil-registration guidance requires residence-permit holders to notify an address change within 20 working days. Check any additional immigration procedure where your province or status changes.

2️⃣ 📄 Documents to prepare

  • 🪪 Identity and immigration documents:
    • A residence card and passport or other documents required for the foreign resident’s status.
    • A Turkish identity card for Turkish citizens.
  • 📑 Evidence of accommodation:
    • A tenancy agreement with the required signatures and notarisation where the official procedure requires it; do not assume notarisation is merely optional in every foreign-resident application.
    • A title deed (tapu) if you own the property, together with any further evidence requested.
    • A recent electricity, water or gas bill in your name at the address, where accepted. A bill is not automatically interchangeable with all other documents.
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 For family registration:
    • An applicable family record or marriage document.
    • Children’s birth records, passports or identity documents, with any translation or legalisation required for the particular file.
Confirm the list with the responsible office, especially if another household is already registered at the property.

3️⃣ 📅 Finding the correct appointment route

  • 📲 Check the responsible authority first:
    • Civil-registration appointments and eligible digital address services use the official NVI/e-Devlet channels.
    • Foreign residents may be directed to the provincial migration office and its designated appointment system instead. Having an e-Devlet account does not mean every address change can be completed online.
    • Check official telephone and website instructions before visiting. Do not rely on an assumed walk-in arrangement or pay an unofficial intermediary simply to obtain an appointment.
  • 🕒 Preparing for the visit:
    • Choose an available time you can attend; an early appointment may be convenient but does not guarantee a shorter queue.
    • Bring the originals and copies specified by the office to reduce the risk of a second visit.

4️⃣ 🧾 What happens at the office?

  • 1️⃣ Submit your documents for the officer to check.
  • 2️⃣ Verify:
    • Your personal details and identity number.
    • The full address: province, district, neighbourhood, street, building and internal flat number.
  • 3️⃣ Read and sign any required declaration confirming the information is accurate.
  • 4️⃣ Once accepted, the address is entered in the relevant system against your identity record. Further checks or evidence may be required; attendance alone does not guarantee immediate registration.

5️⃣ 📥 How can you check the result?

  • 📱 Through e-Devlet, where available to your account:
    • Sign in securely.
    • Check your address information (Adres Bilgilerim) or the service Yerleşim Yeri (İkametgâh) ve Diğer Adres Belgesi Sorgulama, which provides an official address document where supported.
    • Compare the complete address with your actual home. If the display has not refreshed, use the official refresh/update option or ask the relevant office rather than submitting a fictitious address.
  • 📄 For another service or application:
    • A bank or authority may verify the registered address through an authorised system or request an address document. Do not assume every organisation automatically sees an immediate update.

6️⃣ ⚠️ Mistakes to avoid

  • ✖️ Declaring an address where you do not actually live merely to make an application easier. False declarations can have legal consequences.
  • ✖️ Delaying notification after a move; services and official correspondence may depend on the current record.
  • ✖️ Signing a declaration you do not understand. Ask for an explanation or arrange appropriate language assistance; a Turkish-speaking companion does not replace a formally required interpreter.

Keeping your address accurate helps later procedures run more smoothly. Check the responsible office and document list, report changes within the applicable deadline and verify the recorded address after registration.
