Supplier Direct Shipping in Türkiye: Orders, Delivery and Returns
A store can list an item and pass the order to a supplier that ships it directly to the customer. This reduces the seller’s need to hold stock, but does not remove the need to manage availability, delivery and complaints. This guide concerns domestic sales of physical goods.
How does an order move between the parties?
In supplier direct shipping, the seller receives the order, confirms stock with the supplier, and the supplier prepares and hands the parcel to the carrier under their agreement. Identify in the sales documents the seller contracting with the customer and the party issuing the invoice and responding to delays or defects.
This differs from an external warehouse that receives and stores the seller’s own stock. A store can combine models, but for each order it must know who holds the unit and controls preparation and returns.
Test the supplier before listing
Verify the supplier’s identity, contact, invoice, product source and rights to use the brand and images. Order a sample to inspect size, material, packaging and description. Ask if the supplier can ship in your store’s name and what is placed in the parcel.
Agree in writing on acceptance and preparation times, inventory updates, damage handling, tracking and returns. Confirm the chosen marketplace’s rules; do not assume every platform accepts every arrangement.
Share only the customer data needed for fulfilment with the supplier, under applicable data-protection rules and appropriate arrangements between parties; do not assume customer consent automatically.
Map responsibilities before the first order
| Task | Question to agree | Record to keep |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | When is stock updated and how is a shortage reported? | Update time and item record |
| Packing and handover | Who prepares and hands over the parcel, and when? | Order number and handover receipt |
| Invoices and payment | Who issues each document and receives funds? | Invoices and order settlement |
| Returns and defects | Where is the item returned, who inspects and contacts the customer? | Customer request, inspection and messages |
The seller–supplier contract governs their relationship; do not assume it automatically transfers the seller’s customer obligations. Check the sale terms and applicable rules.
Stock, cost and timing
Map each supplier item and variant to the store listing. Set a reserve or pause sales when stock updates are unreliable. Before making a delivery promise, combine supplier confirmation and preparation time with the carrier’s delivery estimate and allow a reasonable margin.
For each order calculate supplier cost, shipping and packaging, marketplace and payment fees, potential refund costs, taxes and actual expenses. Sales value is not profit; avoid relying on old fees or unconfirmed promises.
If the product sells out or arrives damaged
If a supplier reports a shortage, do not present a substitute as the same item without customer agreement. Review the situation, contract and applicable obligations, notify the customer through the approved channel and preserve the messages.
For damage or returns, create a file linking the order, tracking, photos, complaint and responses from supplier and carrier. Request appropriate evidence through a secure channel and follow the customer’s case yourself; your settlement with the supplier is separate from handling the customer’s rights.

Frequently asked questions
Does direct shipping remove the need for a business?
No. Check your activity’s requirements, seller eligibility and invoices with the authorities and marketplace.
Is the supplier always the customer’s seller?
Not necessarily. Identify the seller and parties in the order and contract.
Can I use supplier photos?
Obtain clear permission and check image and brand rights and the accuracy of the listing.
What if stock is shown as available but sells out?
Stop making an unconfirmed promise, review options and obligations, inform the customer and record the case.
Can I start without testing returns?
Test the route before scaling. The agreement should cover the address, inspection, communication and settlement.
