Correcting Credit Risk Reports in Türkiye: Errors, Reporting Institutions and Follow-up

If a report shows an unfamiliar debt or a balance inconsistent with your payment evidence, identify the precise entry and the institution that supplied it. Disputing a fact is different from requesting a higher score or deletion of accurate history. The objective is a record matching the facts, with no promise of loan approval.

Save the report before submitting anything: information dates can differ between institutions. This guide covers documenting and correcting reporting errors. Credit-building habits belong to our separate guide. A report objection does not suspend a genuine debt or remove other obligations.

⁦1️⃣⁩ Identify the report and disputed entry

Record whether the document is a TBB Risk Merkezi or Findeks report, its issue date, reference and delivery source. Read the reporting institution, product, masked account reference, currency, amount, debt status and last-update date. A screenshot of the score alone does not identify the underlying entry you want changed.

The Risk Centre FAQ explains that the last-update field is the date of the member’s notification to the Centre. A difference between an app and a report is therefore not automatically an error: payment may be newer than the notification. Ask the reporting institution to explain the data date and what it submitted rather than assuming every reported balance is live.

⁦2️⃣⁩ Contact the institution that supplied the data

The Risk Centre collects information from members, including banks and financial institutions, and other source organisations. Its guidance says it has no authority to change that information itself. Direct the objection to the member or source whose submission contains the error. If several institutions appear, separate the entries and the requests.

Ask the institution to investigate the fact and correct its notification if an error is confirmed. Request a written outcome and the date any correction was sent to the reporting system. An unrelated bank cannot fix another institution’s debt entry, and a vague request to “clear my name” does not identify a factual issue. Where debt has transferred or an institution’s name changed, ask who reports the current entry.

⁦3️⃣⁩ Choose the correct Findeks function

The Findeks report-operations page separates report confirmation, objection and objection tracking. Confirming that a copy is authentic does not submit a correction request. Buying another report is also not evidence that an objection has been opened. Select the function you need and preserve its reference and response.

Follow the official channel’s identity and report-reference requirements for your circumstances. Do not assume a field labelled Turkish identity number accepts every foreign document, and never insert another person’s number to bypass verification. If the route does not fit your identity, ask the service or reporting bank for its approved alternative before sending sensitive documents.

⁦4️⃣⁩ Write a request that can be investigated

Organise the request around the report date, institution, product, displayed value, value or status you believe is correct, reason for the difference and supporting evidence. A hypothetical request might say: “The report shows TRY 5,000 at the stated notification date. I paid the full amount afterwards and have evidence. Please confirm whether payment was reported and correct the balance if the submission is inaccurate.” The payment date helps distinguish an error from an update lag.

Attach only necessary report pages and the payment or debt-clearance record, keeping originals. Do not give an intermediary an e-Devlet password, message code or full card details in exchange for a promise to erase history. If the debt is unfamiliar, separately ask the bank to investigate the transaction’s origin and secure your access. A report objection alone does not resolve an ongoing fraud risk.

⁦5️⃣⁩ Follow six practical checks

⁦1️⃣⁩ Save the original report and identify the entry, institution and notification date without posting personal data in the forum.

⁦2️⃣⁩ Compare it with a dated statement, receipt or closure record; distinguish payment date from report-update date.

⁦3️⃣⁩ Submit a specific request to the reporting institution, or the appropriate Findeks objection function, and retain the reference.

⁦4️⃣⁩ Request a written explanation of what was checked, whether the notification changed and when it was sent; supply further documents securely.

⁦5️⃣⁩ After the update timing given by the institution, obtain the appropriate report and compare the same entry with the original.

⁦6️⃣⁩ If the discrepancy remains, send the response and new report to the competent institution or complaint route rather than creating repeated requests without references.

⁦6️⃣⁩ Distinguish correction from erasing history

Repaying debt does not automatically make its accurate history an error. Correction does not guarantee removal of every trace or an immediate score increase. Loan refusal likewise does not establish a reporting mistake: a lender may rely on other factors and its acceptance policy. Request a provable factual correction and avoid paying for a guaranteed “clean record”.

Keep a compact file containing both reports, the request, receipt, answer and correction evidence. If the answer is “no error”, seek an explanation of the field, date and value. If an error is admitted, verify the actual amendment. An unresolved request is no reason to stop valid instalments or hand banking access to another person.

⁦7️⃣⁩ Frequently asked questions

Will the Risk Centre change a bank entry on direct request?
Its guidance directs objections to the member or source that supplied the inaccurate information.

Is the report date the update date of every entry?
No. Check the member’s notification date in the last-update field.

Does Findeks report confirmation open an objection?
No. Confirmation, objection and tracking are separate functions.

Does repayment guarantee deletion of debt history?
No. Identify an actual error rather than assuming accurate information must disappear.

Does correction guarantee a new loan?
No. The lending decision is separate and no score increase is guaranteed.
