Baltalimanı Japanese Garden in Istanbul: Location, Flowers, a Visit Plan and Costs
Baltalimanı Japanese Garden in Sarıyer is a small space near the Bosphorus with Japanese garden design, a pond and paths. Created through cooperation between Istanbul and Shimonoseki in Japan, it can be visited on its own or paired with Emirgan after checking the route.

Location and transport
The garden is in Emirgan on Sakıp Sabancı Avenue in Sarıyer. Open the garden on the map. The Japanese consulate identifies the Baltalimanı Hastanesi stop; check the bus route and direction from your starting point, and cross the coastal road at a designated crossing.
What to see
Walk among the trees and paths and observe the Japanese garden features around the pond. The design includes elements such as a waterfall and places to sit; their condition and access may vary. Sakura blooms seasonally, and weather makes the exact flowering date unpredictable.

A short visit plan
| Stage | Suggestion |
|---|---|
| Before arrival | Check opening, weather and return transport. |
| In the garden | Follow open paths and enjoy the pond and photographs without disturbing visitors. |
| Optional extra | Add Emirgan separately after checking the route and time. |
Fees and facilities
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality stated on 11 March 2026 that entry was free; check the latest entry conditions and opening hours before visiting, especially on holidays, as seasonal schedules may change. Budget separately for transport, food and parking, and ask about any conditions for organized photography.
Families and accessibility
Ask which entrance, paths and toilets suit wheelchairs and strollers. Supervise children near the pond and bridges, avoid touching plants or entering closed areas, and take care on wet ground.
Before you go
Check weather, announcements and garden hours and choose a meeting point and return transport. If the flowers are the purpose of your visit, check the season before travelling; earlier photographs do not guarantee today’s bloom.- Parks and Green Spaces in Istanbul for Families
