Ballıkayalar Nature Park in Gebze: canyon walks and transport
Ballıkayalar combines a rocky canyon, a stream and recreation areas near Gebze in Kocaeli. The map currently marks the park temporarily closed; its current access status is unconfirmed, so call before planning a visit.

Location and transport
The park is in Tavşanlı, Gebze district. Find Ballıkayalar Nature Park on the map, and check the entrance, route and parking before travelling. Contact the Kocaeli nature conservation directorate on 0262 312 13 12 to check visitor arrangements.
What to see and how to plan
The valley has rocky walls and a stream that has carved hollows in the limestone; the park also has places for day-use recreation. Choose a route suited to your ability: a rocky waterside trail is different from a family break near the day-use area.Check trail conditions before walking and avoid slippery rocks, edges and the stream after rain. Do not start rock climbing or a demanding trail without suitable experience and equipment, and do not assume every part of the canyon is stroller-accessible.
