🧱 Mardin stone hotels: rooms, views and stairs

In Mardin, a hotel's name alone says little about the room you will receive. Rooms in one mansion may differ more in windows, floor, size and stairs than two neighbouring hotels do. A sweeping view of the Mesopotamian plain from a shared terrace does not mean your bedroom window has that view. This comparison of Maridin, İzala and Mardius helps you book a suitable room, with specific questions about cars, luggage and mobility.

🏨 Maridin Boutique: ask for the room name and window direction

📍 A restored stone building on 1. Cadde in the Diyarbakırkapı area of central Mardin. The website offers standard rooms, suites and individually named rooms such as Şahmeran, Firdevs and Turabdin. Request photographs and a plan of the specific room.
🌄 If the plain view is your reason for choosing it, ask whether it is visible from the room itself or only a shared area, and whether there is private outdoor seating. A fine terrace photograph establishes nothing about every bedroom's outlook.
🧖 The hotel lists a Turkish bath, sauna and restaurant; check hours and charges. For five guests, a general occupancy field is insufficient: ask for actual bed numbers and dimensions. Agree on the car drop-off point and route from there to your room with luggage.

🏨 İzala: “Deluxe” has several meanings

📍 In Medrese on 1. Cadde beside the old post-office building. The rooms page lists the Standard at 15 m² for two, with a courtyard view. If you have large suitcases or need a cot, check the remaining usable space.
🛏️ Deluxe 1 is listed at 35–46 m² for two adults, overlooking the plain. Deluxe 2 is 35 m² and Deluxe 3 is 30 m², both listed for two adults and a child, with city views. Booking an unspecified “Deluxe” can change the outlook and occupancy you expect.
♨️ The Executive category has a bedroom, sitting area and Turkish bath within the room. This is useful if you will use it, but it does not automatically make the category suitable for a large family. Check occupancy and beds too.

🏨 Mardius: book by room name to avoid surprises

📍 A historic mansion in Teker, Artuklu, with individually named rooms. Room examples to reconfirm with the hotel include triple room 101, family room 103, twin room 301 and duplex honeymoon suite 303. These are different layouts, not interchangeable units under one label.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The Dilara Hanım room 103 has been described as 30 m² with a double bed and a single bed. Ask whether those specifications still apply. It illustrates why “Family” can mean accommodation for three and does not confirm space for five. Check any extra bed before relying on the category.
🪜 “Duplex” in suite 303 calls for questions about stairs inside the unit as well as the route to it. In a stone mansion, check air conditioning, windows, bathroom level and luggage access; practical details are part of a comfortable heritage stay.

🧭 A comparison to guide your choice
What matters to you? What should you ask when booking?
A view from the roomWhat is the unit's name and which way does its window face?
A child staying with parentsWhich category permits three, and with which beds?
A private Turkish bathIs it included in İzala's Executive category?
MobilityHow many steps are there from the car to the room and bathroom?

🔎 Booking details worth confirming

🚗 Before arrival: Send the car's size and arrival time, and request a clear drop-off pin. Ask whether parking is on site or elsewhere and how far luggage must be carried. Proximity to a main street does not mean vehicles reach every mansion entrance.
🌙 For a quieter stay, ask which way the room faces and how far it is from the restaurant and shared seating. In a small room, compare suitcase-opening space and children's movement rather than star ratings alone.
✅ Book a room by its full description: name or number, beds, windows and view, floor and stairs. Those details make price comparisons between mansions clearer.
