Updating Your Address in Türkiye: NVİ, e-Devlet and Migration Procedures
Your registered residential address is used in official records and can matter for residence, banking, schools and municipal services. Keep it consistent with where you actually live. The procedure for a foreign resident can involve NVİ, the provincial migration directorate or both, depending on the circumstances.
The notification period
Official NVİ guidance states that address changes must be notified within 20 working days. Residence-permit holders must follow the applicable migration requirements as well. Moving to a different province may require an additional residence-permit procedure; ask the receiving provincial directorate rather than simply cancelling an old record yourself. Can it be done through e-Devlet?
Open https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/ and search for Adres Değişikliği Bildirimi. Whether you can complete the change online depends on your identity record, eligibility, the address and any required consent or verification. A foreigner identity number does not guarantee access to every online address function. If the service accepts your case, follow its current steps, select the precise new address and provide the required declarations or confirmation. Do not assume that every application uses a document-upload field or is approved within 24 hours. An occupied address, shared residence or data mismatch may need consent, evidence or an in-person procedure. Ask the competent authority if the online route does not cover your case.
Attending in person
Check which institution should handle your situation. Where an NVİ appointment is required, use https://randevu.nvi.gov.tr/ and the applicable address procedure. For a migration-related update, follow the provincial migration directorate's instructions and official appointment route.Bring accepted identity documents, your passport and residence document where relevant, and the requested evidence of actual residence. The authority determines whether it needs a tenancy agreement, utility record, supporting statement or further verification. Processing depends on the record and evidence; completion within a few minutes is not guaranteed.
Preparation checklist
- Valid accepted identification and any required copies.
- Passport and residence document where applicable.
- Tenancy or other evidence requested for the address.
- Accurate building and apartment details matching the official address database.
- Any required co-resident consent or supporting declaration; landlord permission alone does not replace the registration rules.
Late notification and inaccurate declarations
Late notification and false address declarations can attract different penalties. Amounts change by year; the old TRY 350–700 range is not a reliable current tariff. Check the applicable decision and the current official figures. Register where you actually live and do not treat an address document as permission to ignore closed-area or residence rules. After the update
Check the registered address through the available official enquiry, such as Yerleşim Yeri Bilgilerim, and keep proof of the completed change. Ensure your migration record and relevant institutions are updated where required. A change of province should be coordinated with the competent authorities rather than leaving a gap between unregistered addresses.Official references
