A scarf chosen at leisure and tea in a historic inn’s courtyard can begin your Koza Han visit in Bursa. The setting combines textiles and gifts with architecture worth pausing over, whether you want a light travel purchase or a break between old-city sights. Give it its own time; enjoying the courtyard and comparing fabrics are both part of the visit.

Koza Han was built under Sultan Bayezid II in 1491 and stands in the historic inns district, Hanlar Bölgesi, between Ulu Cami and Orhan Camii. Historically associated with the cocoon and silk trade, it remains a place of commerce and visits.
The inn has two storeys around a courtyard, with a small domed mosque above a fountain at its centre. These features make the arcades different from a quick walk along a shopping street; pause over the stonework and gateway before concentrating on purchases.
Upper-floor shops sell silk fabrics, scarves, shawls, home textiles and gifts, while cafés occupy the lower floor. Decide what you want first: an everyday scarf, an occasion shawl or a portable gift.
Ask about the stated fibre composition, dimensions and care instructions. Shine alone does not establish pure silk, and “from Bursa” does not specify where every product was manufactured. Unfold the piece with permission, inspect the edges and print quality, then compare items of similar composition and size.

| What you want | What to ask | What to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday scarf | Composition and care | Feel and edges |
| A shawl as a gift | Dimensions and wrapping | Whether the colour suits the recipient |
| A home textile | Dimensions and use | Weight in your luggage |
Finish browsing with a courtyard break, or begin with coffee to agree on the family’s gift list. Choose a meeting point before separating between shops, especially if some group members go upstairs. Ask about any stairs or access route you need if accompanying someone with limited mobility.

Use the name Koza Han, Osmangazi when setting your destination, then plan the walk between the inn and its two neighbouring mosques according to your arrival point. Connect it with the Covered Bazaar while allowing time for each: Koza Han for textiles and courtyard, the bazaar for a wider shop selection.
Keep the receipt and seller’s details before leaving, asking about exchanges for a gift. Pack textiles separately from food and drinks and keep them accessible when organising luggage; a carefully chosen gift gives the visit meaning beyond your travels.
