Istanbul International Book Fair 2026: Dates, Transport and Visit Planning
The fair is scheduled for December; plan tickets, transport and your publisher list using the current edition’s information.
When and where is the fair?
The organiser has announced the Istanbul International Book Fair for 12–20 December 2026 at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul. It is a planned event, not one that has already taken place; check for changes before visiting.
The organiser describes this as the 43rd edition, although an older logo appears elsewhere on its site. Search for the actual event date when checking details.
If buying books is your main purpose, start with titles, authors, languages and editions. If meeting a writer matters most, plan around that session first. Choosing one main objective helps avoid missing a short signing slot while browsing.
Opening hours
The organiser’s published FAQ gives weekdays 10:00–19:00 and weekends 10:00–20:00, except the final Sunday, 20 December, when it closes at 19:00. Recheck updates and the last admission time before setting out.
The calendar entry on another organiser page shows a different final-day end time. Do not rely on the calendar entry alone; confirm closing time with the organiser if planning a late visit.
| Period | Announced hours | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Weekdays | 10:00–19:00 | Last admission and updates |
| Weekends except the final day | 10:00–20:00 | Hours for your chosen date |
| Sunday 20 December 2026 | 10:00–19:00 in the published FAQ | The calendar has a different end time; confirm closing |
Tickets and registration
Check the current visitor page for the price, exemptions and purchase or registration method for your visitor category. Do not rely on ticket images from an earlier edition.
If visiting with children or someone who needs access arrangements, ask about their conditions, hall entrances and facilities before buying. Do not assume every programme within the fair is covered by general admission.
The organiser’s current FAQ offers free entry to students, teachers, children, retired people and disabled visitors, while the general admission price is not yet specified there. Ask what proof and free-entry procedure apply; an exemption does not remove every admission step.
The organiser lists online purchase and entrance counters. Keep the confirmation and check its date and visitor category before paying. Do not use an entry code copied from a public social-media image.
| Category | Announced admission | Practical step |
|---|---|---|
| Students | Free | Ask about eligibility proof and issuing admission |
| Teachers | Free | Confirm acceptable eligibility evidence |
| Children | Free | Check the individual workshop or activity conditions |
| Retired visitors | Free | Ask which proof is accepted |
| Disabled visitors | Free | Confirm admission procedure and access arrangements |
| General admission | Not yet priced in the current FAQ | Confirm the final price before buying |
Getting there and back
The venue is in Cumhuriyet neighbourhood on Eski Hadımköy Yolu in Büyükçekmece. Save TÜYAP Fuar ve Kongre Merkezi in Turkish for navigation and confirm the designated fair entrance.
The organiser describes a Metrobus route toward Beylikdüzü and the terminal stop near the centre. Choose a route from your own starting point, check direction, stops, changes and operating hours with the transport operator, and plan your return before leaving.
The Metrobus stop is not a hall entrance. Follow fair signs and confirm the gate after arrival. From the Asian side, allow for reaching the Metrobus, waiting and walking; reaching the station is not the same as reaching an author’s session.
If buying many books, leave room for carrying them and simplify the rest of your day. Compare the actual journey home after closing with an alternative if needed, without assuming a fixed cross-city fare or duration.
Publishers, events and signings
Make a short list of books or publishers, then check the 2026 participant list, hall and stand number when available or updated. Participation in a previous edition does not guarantee a publisher will attend this one.
Check each author’s signing or talk for its language, date, hall and entry method. Do not assume a signing lasts all day or requires no reservation; leave time to move and queue.
Keep the stand number separate from the talk’s room number and save both with the publisher’s name. For translated titles, compare the translator, publisher and edition; similar covers can represent different texts. Check the level and year of educational books.
Ask for the final bundle price, payment method and arrangements for a damaged copy. Discounts are set by individual publishers rather than one rate for the fair. Record purchases to avoid buying the same title at another stand.
A practical visit plan
Choose two or three halls that match your interests rather than trying to cover everything. Allow time for one event and a break, and set a budget for books, transport and food.
For a family visit, agree on a clear meeting point and ask the organiser about toilets, stroller access and rest areas. Keep the receipt and seller details for purchases.
A suggested half-day plan is to locate your halls, visit two priority publishers, attend one session, then take a break before optional browsing. This is a planning example rather than an official timetable; adapt it to the session, crowds and your energy.
For a family visit, save a companion’s phone number and choose a meeting point staff can identify. A busy stand alone may be a poor landmark. The FAQ permits strollers and gives no general age limit, but individual workshops can have their own conditions.
What to check before leaving
Recheck the date and closing time, ticket terms and event location, author and publisher schedule, and your return route on the day. Prices, participants and timetables can change.
If the programme or final price for your chosen event has not been announced, note your question and wait for the organiser’s confirmation. Do not book travel based on unannounced details or an old list.
Common questions
Has the fair already happened?
No. The announced dates are 12–20 December 2026; check for changes.
Does the last Sunday have the same hours as other weekends?
The published FAQ gives 19:00 on 20 December; a calendar entry differs, so confirm before visiting.
Is the publisher list fixed?
Check the current 2026 list and the publisher’s stand before travelling.
How do I get there by public transport?
The organiser points to the Metrobus terminal at Beylikdüzü near the centre; check your own journey and return.
