Büyük Çamlıca Grove in Istanbul: Views, Transport, a Visit Plan and Costs
Büyük Çamlıca Grove is in Üsküdar on Istanbul’s Asian side, combining trees and walking areas with views across the city and Bosphorus. It is distinct from nearby Küçük Çamlıca Grove; Çamlıca Mosque and Çamlıca Tower are separate destinations with their own visit arrangements.
Location and transport
Search for Büyük Çamlıca Korusu in Kısıklı, Üsküdar, and choose a gate suited to your approach. Plan a bus or taxi and any final walking section according to your starting point; check the actual stop, return journey and distance to the entrance. Open the grove on the map.
Walking and views
Walk among the trees and pause at open viewpoints for the Bosphorus and Istanbul skyline. The view varies with your position, weather and haze; it is not guaranteed from every seat. Stay on permitted routes and supervise children near steps and barriers.
A flexible family plan
| Stage | Suggestion |
|---|---|
| Before arrival | Check weather and visiting hours, then choose your entrance and return route. |
| Walk | Start with a short route suited to the group and take breaks as needed. |
| Photographs | Choose an open viewpoint and avoid blocking other visitors. |
| Optional extra | If visiting the mosque or tower, plan each separately and check its hours and charges. |
Budget and facilities
Budget separately for transport, food, parking and any separate mosque or tower visit. No current standard park-entry or parking tariff is established here, so ask before travelling rather than relying on old prices. Check food and toilet opening times and availability, which may differ from the grove’s hours.
Families and accessibility
Paths and slopes vary, so ask which entrance and route suit wheelchairs and strollers. Bring water and comfortable shoes, take care on wet ground and in strong wind at viewpoints, and follow site signs.
Before you go
Check hours, weather and notices on the day; authorities can close wooded sites temporarily in dangerous winds. Choose a family meeting point and return transport, and check local rules for food, photography and services on arrival.- Parks and Green Spaces in Istanbul for Families
