From Fenerbahçe to Champions League Revelation of the Season
Arda Güler began 2026–2027 after an important stage in his career: a larger role in the Champions League, a European award recognising his development, and a spectacular long-range strike voted the best goal of the previous Spanish league season.
This reference follows the Turkish player from his development years and Fenerbahçe to Real Madrid. It brings together his current-season figures by competition, team honours, individual awards and international milestones, alongside the existing analysis of his European progress and midfield roles.
Profile reviewed: 23 October 2026. Each table has its own scope and date. The reading date does not mean that a source states its statistical cutoff or last included match.

How did he reach Real Madrid?
Güler began his football education in Türkiye, moved to Fenerbahçe and progressed to the first team. Real Madrid announced the agreement to sign him on 6 July 2023 and scheduled his presentation for 7 July. This is separate from his official debut against Arandina in the Copa del Rey on 6 January 2024.

The 2026–2027 campaign is his fourth season at Real Madrid. This progression helps put his experience in context: an early move to a major club, followed by growing experience and responsibility over successive seasons.

The 100-match Real Madrid milestone
On 25 February 2026, the club announced that Güler had reached 100 Real Madrid appearances, including 74 wins. At that date the breakdown was LaLiga 63, Champions League 17, Copa del Rey 9, Club World Cup 7, Spanish Super Cup 3 and UEFA Super Cup 1. This is a dated milestone, not his career total at this review; current-season appearances must not be added to it.

His European breakthrough: what changed in the Champions League?
UEFA named Güler the 2025–2026 Champions League Revelation of the Season, announcing the award on 31 May 2026.
The award recognises a young player’s significant progress over a particular campaign. Comparing his involvement in the competition shows the scale of the change:
| Measure | Champions League 2024–2025 | Champions League 2025–2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Appearances | 7 | 14 |
| Starts | 1 | 13 |
| Minutes played | 142 | 1,030 |
In the 2025–2026 competition, he scored twice and supplied four assists, according to UEFA’s statistics.
Both goals came against Bayern Munich in the quarter-final second leg. He also received the Player of the Match award against Juventus in the league phase.
His increased starts and playing time show how much more responsibility he took on in the competition. That development is an important part of understanding the award, alongside his goals and assists.

Goal of the Season: a strike from over 65 metres
On 14 March 2026, Güler scored against Elche from inside Real Madrid’s own half. After spotting the goalkeeper off his line, he sent a long-range effort into the net.
The goal came in the 88th minute and completed a 4–1 victory at the Bernabéu. On 3 June 2026, LaLiga announced it as the 2025–2026 Goal of the Season, having already named it March’s Goal of the Month.

The goal combined awareness of the goalkeeper’s position, a quick decision and the precision needed to judge both distance and power. Its distinction lies in bringing all those elements together in one brief passage of play.
His LaLiga statistics in 2026–2027
The pages read on 23 October 2026 display the 2026–2027 season. The LaLiga row comes from the league and the Champions League row from UEFA. Each covers its own competition; neither source explicitly states the last match included.
| Competition | Appearances | Starts | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Shots |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| LaLiga | 9 | 7 | 504 | 2 | 2 | 11 |
| Champions League | 2 | Not displayed | 110 | 1 | 3 | Not displayed |
In LaLiga, this means four goal contributions: two goals and two assists. He started seven of his nine appearances and came on as a substitute twice. Starts are separate from goal contributions and do not guarantee a permanent starting place.

Champions League in the current season
The Champions League row is independent: two appearances, 110 minutes, one goal and three assists according to UEFA. “Not displayed” does not mean zero. These rows are not combined into one season total because the published sources differ in their aggregates.

Does he start? The LaLiga snapshot records seven starts in nine appearances. The number 8 and number 10 roles describe his tactical task, as explained below; they do not by themselves determine whether he is selected to start.
These figures provide a starting point for following his season. Understanding the development of his role also requires looking at his position in each match, his responsibilities and his involvement in building attacks.
Where does Güler play? The number 8 and number 10 roles
In comments published by Real Madrid after the Juventus match on 22 October 2025, Güler explained that he could play as a number 8 or a number 10, depending on what the team needed.
These numbers describe tactical roles on the pitch; his current shirt number is 15.
| Role | Main task | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Number 8 | Connect phases of play and advance from midfield. | Receiving under pressure, directing passes and timing forward movement. |
| Number 10 | Operate closer to the attack and behind the striker. | Receiving between the lines, creating chances and finding shooting positions. |
These are possible roles, with their use determined by the match plan. When watching Güler, it helps to note where he receives the ball, how close he is to the forwards and how he works with the other midfielders.
The position from which he starts an attack affects the options available and the number of opponents he must bypass, through passing or movement, before reaching dangerous areas.
Güler with Türkiye
His club development runs alongside his role in the Turkish national team. Real Madrid’s update dated 29 September 2026 reported that he played the full match against France and then completed another 90 minutes against Italy in the Nations League.
International football offers another context for assessing him, as his relationships on the pitch change with the players around him and the team’s system. It is useful to compare the areas he occupies for Türkiye with those he occupies for Real Madrid, then consider how each side uses his ability to connect play and create chances.
International record and milestones
| Date or scope | Milestone or record | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 3 September 2021 — U17 | Debut against Azerbaijan in Baku; 83 minutes | Minutes in one match, not a youth-career total |
| 19 November 2022 — senior team | First senior international date listed by TFF | Separate from his youth international debut |
| 19 June 2023 — EURO 2024 qualifying | 80th-minute goal against Wales in Türkiye’s 2–0 win | A documented goal; not labelled his first international goal here |
| 6 July 2024 — EURO quarter-final | Cross for Samet Akaydin’s goal against Netherlands; Türkiye lost 2–1 | A contribution and tournament milestone, not a team trophy |
| TFF report published 26 June 2026 — World Cup | Goal against USA; Türkiye’s youngest World Cup scorer at 21 years and 120 days | A Turkish record, not the youngest scorer worldwide; the date is the report’s publication date |
| TFF tables in reports of 2 and 5 October 2026 | 36 senior appearances and 7 goals | Statistical cutoff unspecified; not a confirmed total through 23 October |
The 5 October report marks Güler as having left the camp through suspension; his presence in the roster does not add an Italy appearance. The reviewed sources do not establish career international minutes or assists, complete youth-team totals, or a full 2026 World Cup statistics table. Türkiye exited that World Cup in the group stage: his individual scoring record does not mean the team won the tournament.

The world title is the Intercontinental Cup of 18 December 2024. The broad “FIFA Club World Cups” category in his profile does not create a second world title or mean that he won the 2025 Club World Cup.
