🏔️🌊 Kemer 2026: where the Taurus Mountains meet the Mediterranean

West of Antalya lies a striking stretch of southern Türkiye's coast: Kemer, with a character different from central Antalya and the resorts east of the city.

Here the Taurus Mountains rise close to the sea, pine forests cover the slopes above coastal settlements, and beaches, bays and resorts extend through Beldibi, Göynük, central Kemer, Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova.

“Kemer” can describe a long tourism corridor as well as the town itself. Each part has its own location, atmosphere and way of spending a holiday. This 2026 guide follows the coast from north to south, explaining those differences and nearby natural and historic sites.

🧭 Where is Kemer?

Kemer lies south-west of central Antalya along the D400 coastal road. The Mediterranean is to its east and south-east, with the Taurus Mountains and forests rising behind it.

Travelling from Antalya, the main coastal areas are broadly in this order:
  • Beldibi
  • Göynük
  • Central Kemer
  • Kiriş
  • Çamyuva
  • Tekirova
A hotel advertised as being in Kemer may actually be in Beldibi, Göynük or Tekirova. These are distinct places with meaningful distances between them, so check the precise address.

🌲🏖️ Beldibi: approaching from Antalya

Beldibi is the first main resort area reached from Antalya towards Kemer. Its scenery is shaped by the narrow space between mountains and sea: beaches sit below high green slopes, with hotels and resorts along the coast and road.

The beach extends for several kilometres. Alongside hotel beach areas, there are places that visitors can use independently. Beldibi suits travellers seeking close mountain views, seaside accommodation, a quieter atmosphere than central Antalya and relative proximity to Antalya compared with resorts further south.

Its character is primarily an extended coastal resort and residential area, rather than a large urban centre.

🏞️💦 Göynük: coast, canyon and mountains

South of Beldibi, Göynük combines a long resort-lined beach with mountainous surroundings. Inland, Göynük Canyon offers rocky terrain, water and routes among mountains and forest.

Kemer is also part of western Antalya's natural and historic walking country, making the area relevant to hikers and nature enthusiasts as well as beach holidaymakers. Göynük can therefore combine a morning beside the sea with a separate outing towards the mountains and canyon.

⚓ Central Kemer: the area's lively heart

After Göynük comes Kemer town. Here the landscape becomes more urban, with shops and markets, cafés and restaurants, streets for walking, a boat and yacht marina, parks, open spaces and nearby beaches.

The centre suits visitors who want the sea alongside evening walks and convenient access to services beyond their resort.

🌙 Moonlight Beach: a familiar Kemer scene

Moonlight Beach, or Ayışığı, occupies a curved stretch of coast near the marina. Green spaces and visitor facilities surround it, making it a prominent part of central Kemer's tourism landscape.

It is also a place to appreciate the area's combination of blue Mediterranean water, boats and yachts, forests and high mountains in the background.

🌿 Kiriş: a quieter base south of town

Immediately south of Kemer, Kiriş is smaller and generally quieter, with resorts and holiday accommodation across much of the area. It appeals to visitors who expect to spend considerable time near their hotel and beach.

Its proximity to central Kemer also makes town access easier than from places further south. It offers a balance between the town's activity and a coastal resort stay; the actual noise level still depends on the property and season.

🌊 Çamyuva: a long beach towards Tekirova

Beyond Kiriş lies Çamyuva, with a relatively open coastline. Antalya Municipality describes its beach as approximately 3 km long, with hotel sections and areas for public use.

Mediterranean water, surrounding greenery, nearby mountains and coastal hotels shape the area. Its position between Kemer and Tekirova is convenient for exploring the southern district. Çamyuva is also a residential community with local services, alongside tourism accommodation.

🏛️ Phaselis: history beside the sea

Between Çamyuva and Tekirova lies Phaselis, one of the coast's distinctive archaeological stops. The ancient city occupies a natural coastal setting, with ruins close to the sea.

Visitors can see ancient streets and buildings, the theatre, sections of aqueduct and remains associated with historic harbours, surrounded by forest. Phaselis demonstrates a characteristic feature of Kemer: archaeology, nature and the shore can be experienced together.

🌲 Tekirova: the southern resort area

South of Phaselis, Tekirova is a major resort area in southern Kemer, approximately 17 km from the town centre; the actual journey depends on your addresses and route.

It generally feels quieter and more spread out than central Kemer, with substantial tourism facilities. The Mediterranean lies ahead, mountains rise behind and dense greenery gives the area a strong natural character. It is also a useful base for nearby historic and natural sites.

🚠 Tahtalı: from the coast to the summit

Tahtalı Dağı, a prominent peak of the western Taurus, rises behind Çamyuva and Tekirova. The cable car makes it possible to travel from the coastal area to a high mountain setting in a short time.

When weather and visibility allow, the summit offers extensive views over the Mediterranean, Kemer's coast, forests and surrounding peaks. This rapid rise from sea through forest to high mountains is central to the area's landscape. Check operating arrangements and conditions before travelling.

🔥 Beyond Tekirova

Further along the coast and inland are Çıralı and Yanartaş, Olympos, Ulupınar and Beycik. Their character differs from the Beldibi–Tekirova resort corridor. They will receive separate coverage in the Antalya series so their nature, history and accommodation can be explored properly.

🚗 Arriving and travelling between areas

The D400 is the main coastal road from Antalya. The broad sequence is Antalya → Beldibi → Göynük → Kemer → Kiriş/Çamyuva → Tekirova, with local roads connecting individual areas and hotels.

Road passenger services link Antalya and Kemer, with local transport between several district neighbourhoods. A car adds flexibility when combining Phaselis, mountains, bays and other natural areas in one day. Allow extra time in summer, when coastal traffic can be heavier at peak periods.

🎯 Choosing your area
  • Beldibi: relative proximity to Antalya with sea and mountain scenery.
  • Göynük: resorts, nature and the canyon.
  • Central Kemer: walking, shops, restaurants and the marina alongside the sea.
  • Kiriş: a quieter resort setting close to central Kemer.
  • Çamyuva: a long beach and a convenient position in southern Kemer.
  • Tekirova: large resorts, quieter natural surroundings and access to Phaselis and Tahtalı.

🏗️ Kemer in 2026: services for permanent communities

Recent local projects include market facilities and improvements to public services. Covered markets in Çamyuva, Göynük and Tekirova form part of the municipality's programme to provide lasting facilities for residents and traders in place of temporary street markets.

These developments reflect the area's permanent residential communities and the services they need throughout the year, alongside tourism.

🌅 Understanding the whole coast

From Beldibi in the north to Tekirova in the south, the setting changes repeatedly: mountains close to the water, resorts among forests, a lively town and marina, then the natural surroundings of Phaselis and Tahtalı.

Choose accommodation by its precise location. Understanding the differences between Beldibi, Göynük, central Kemer, Çamyuva and Tekirova gives a clearer picture of distances, atmosphere and nearby services before travelling.

Further topics in the Greater Antalya 2026 series will continue south and west through the region's natural, historic and coastal areas, building a more detailed picture of western Antalya.
