On 19 October 2026, ÖSYM opened placement into Turkish-medium programmes for defined groups of students disenrolled after failing compulsory foreign-language preparation. If this describes your situation, distinguish the application deadline from the payment and preference deadlines so you complete every stage.
The preparatory class must be compulsory, and disenrolment must result from failure in that class. This procedure does not cover disenrolment solely for absence or other reasons. The guide lists central admission routes and special categories, including YKS/ÖSYS, DGS and YÇS, with preference rules linked to the student's original admission route and scores. It is not a general admission offer to all international students, and does not by itself establish eligibility for students admitted through TR-YÖS.
YÖKSİS must show departure reason 13: failure in foreign-language preparation. For this round, the disenrolment date must be 3 November 2025 or later. The rule allowing one application in the applicable period, score conditions and programme requirements also apply.
| Stage | Announced deadline |
|---|---|
| Application | 19 October–2 November 2026, 23:59 |
| Placement-fee payment | 3 November 2026, 23:59 |
| Preference submission | 3 November 2026, 23:59 |
| Standard fee | TRY 170; specified exemptions appear in the guide |
| Preferences | A maximum of six |
Read the 2026 application and preference guide, then check your record with student affairs. YÖKSİS errors must be added or corrected by the university that disenrolled you; ÖSYM and its application centres cannot make these university-record corrections.
Apply through the AİS candidate system or its mobile application. Check the form carefully before confirming: applicants cannot update application information after submission. Pay by card through ÖSYM's electronic payment service; the guide rules out bank and ATM payments. Submit preferences appropriate to your route, retain copies of the application, payment and preferences, and check the success messages.
Rank programmes in your preferred order, then check their 2026 codes, minimum scores, conditions and fees. Places are limited and an application does not guarantee placement. Certain discounted programme codes may be used where no full-fee code exists, but students pay the full tuition fee under this procedure; the code does not promise a scholarship or discount. If your university has a Turkish-medium programme with the same name, ask about the direct university route described in the guide before making choices.
This is the 2026 placement-processing fee, not annual tuition, a housing deposit or a student-residence fee. Pay after creating the application, by credit or debit card through ÖSYM's channel. The instructions exclude bank and ATM payments and state that the fee cannot be refunded or transferred for any reason. Check eligibility and your information before confirming and paying.
The guide, citing the relevant ÖSYM decision, exempts a martyr's spouse and children, and veterans and their spouses and children. Merely describing the status in a message is insufficient: the relevant SGK relationship/status information must be transferred to your ÖSYM record. The guide identifies PROFİLİM, then Şehit/Gazi Yakınlık Bilgilerim, and its SGK-update button. Applicants without an ÖSYM system record must visit an application centre within the application period to have the information entered. This exemption concerns this specific fee, not all university charges.
| Check | Cost or action |
|---|---|
| Standard placement fee | TRY 170 unless the specified exemption applies |
| Tuition in the new programme | Check with the university; the placement announcement sets no universal tariff |
| Discounted code used because no full-fee code exists | Full tuition under the guide’s rules, not the discount printed in the code |
| After payment | Keep evidence and verify payment is reflected in your file before submitting preferences |
Identify the source of the error first. For YÖKSİS departure reasons, departure dates or education records, contact the university that held your registration. Paying TRY 170 does not remedy a missing reason 13 or an ineligible date. Do not change the examination route or admission year to bypass rejection: these determine valid preferences and the score used for placement.
For universities not integrated with YÖKSİS, the guide requires the university to send identity details officially to ÖSYM by 27 October 2026. This is a university reporting step, not an alternative student application deadline. Special arrangements exist for candidates notified by the National Defence University or Police Academy; a similar preparatory-class description does not automatically put you in those categories.
Also check photograph validity and contact details. The guide describes photograph-update routes based on the identity card and existing photograph; some cases require an application centre. Inspect the system early so that an incomplete record or technical obstacle does not consume the remaining application period.
For each choice, record the university and programme name, 2026 code, teaching language, original score year, relevant minimum score, any age, health or achievement-ranking conditions, and tuition. The guide permits up to six preferences; filling all six is not compulsory. Failing a programme condition can prevent registration even if a placement result appears. A sufficient score does not override other requirements.
Check the successful-preference-submission message, then save a copy. The guide permits preference changes within the preference period through AİS; do not rely on a posted, faxed or emailed change request. Monitor the official results portal and subsequent registration announcement. The application-opening notice does not establish the result or final-registration date.
Is this an ordinary university transfer? No. It is a defined route after disenrolment for failure in compulsory preparation. A Turkish-medium programme with the same name at your own university has the route described in the guide and is worth asking about first.
Can I choose any Turkish-medium subject? No. Your original admission route must satisfy the preference rules, scores and programme conditions, using current-year codes. Turkish-medium teaching alone is insufficient.
Does placement guarantee credit recognition or continued residence? The announcement does not decide course recognition or your individual residence position. Ask the university about credit assessment and academic procedures, and check residence obligations with the responsible authority if enrolment status changes. Retain their answers instead of inferring an automatic outcome from an application.
