Türkiye's YHT high-speed trains, operated by TCDD Taşımacılık, make it possible to combine several Central Anatolian cities in one trip. You can explore Eskişehir's markets, Ankara's museums, Konya's landmarks and Sivas's heritage while reducing long-distance driving.
A successful journey starts with the correct station and train details. Cities can have more than one station, and stops and journey times vary between services.
- Ankara–Eskişehir: links the capital with the university city, with services continuing through Eskişehir towards İstanbul.
- Ankara–Konya: connects the capital with Konya; some services continue to Karaman.
- İstanbul–Konya and Karaman: reaches southern Central Anatolia via Eskişehir.
- Ankara–Sivas: follows the Kırıkkale and Yozgat corridor to Sivas, with stops depending on the selected train.
- İstanbul–Sivas: a direct service connects the two cities via Ankara.
In Ankara, Ankara station at the ATG complex is separate from Eryaman. Locate your arrival station on the map before choosing accommodation or arranging a car.
In Konya, both Konya and Selçuklu may appear among journey options, so check the station rather than just the city name. İstanbul departure points also differ by service and may include Söğütlüçeşme, Pendik or Halkalı.
Keep the Turkish station name exactly as printed on your ticket. It helps when using maps or speaking with a driver.
Use TCDD Taşımacılık's eBilet system or official app, then:
- Choose the departure and arrival stations, travel date and number of passengers.
- Check the train type, selecting YHT if you want a high-speed service.
- Review arrival time, stops, travel class and available seats.
- Enter passenger details as shown on the identity document or passport.
- Check the final price and the change and refund conditions before paying.
- Make sure you receive the ticket or booking confirmation by email or message.
As a planning allowance, arrive about 30–45 minutes before departure for security checks and finding the platform. Leave longer when travelling with children or luggage. This is a suggested allowance, rather than an official boarding-gate deadline.
Carry your ticket and the original identity document used for the booking. Check the official baggage rules before bringing large suitcases or specialist equipment.
ATG's website lists access via Gar station on metro line M4, Maltepe station on ANKARAY and Başkentray services. Include the walk from your connecting transport to the train entrance in your timing.
The Ministry of Transport listed the Yerköy–Kayseri railway among lines under construction in its update of 17 June 2026. Plan your trip around available services rather than assuming there is a direct YHT train to Kayseri.
Göreme and Cappadocia's main visitor areas require an onward road connection. Compare the complete journey, including changes of transport and the final transfer to your hotel.
Ankara can be a starting point for three directions: Eskişehir to the west, Konya and Karaman to the south, and Kırıkkale, Yozgat and Sivas to the east.
Choose cities to suit the number of days available, book each stage and allow enough time between connecting journeys. For a day trip, check the return train before committing to the outward journey.
