Türkiye secured qualification for the 2027 Basketball World Cup with a 110–73 away victory over Iceland on 31 August 2026.
The win took their qualifying record to eight victories without defeat and made them the first national team to earn a place through the qualifiers. The 2027 tournament will be Türkiye’s sixth World Cup appearance and their first since 2019.
The World Cup is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 27 August to 12 September 2027.

With a World Cup place secured, the remaining qualifiers offer a chance to assess consistency, the distribution of roles and the team’s ability to maintain cohesion as squads change.
Defence, rebounding and control of turnovers are useful measures to follow, alongside the quality of the offence against stronger opposition.
An assessment of Türkiye’s prospects at the World Cup itself will depend on the draw, the final squad and preparations closer to the tournament.
