Galatasaray begin the season under Okan Buruk with a squad that combines attacking strength with experience in midfield and defence. Their opening results, however, contrast a run of domestic wins with setbacks away from home. Finding greater consistency is therefore one of the main tasks ahead.

Galatasaray were level on points with leaders Amedspor and one point ahead of Beşiktaş and Kocaelispor.
They began with a 2–2 draw against Çorum, followed by four successive wins: 4–0 against Erzurumspor, 3–2 against Göztepe, 3–2 against Başakşehir and 1–0 against Kocaelispor.
The run ended with a 0–4 defeat against Trabzonspor on 19 September, making defensive improvement a clear priority before competition resumed.

This group gives the coaching staff several ways to vary the attack and allocate roles. Selection for each match depends on fitness, the opposition and the balance required between the team’s units.
• Victor Osimhen: Six league goals accounted for almost half the team’s total after six rounds. Developing other sources of goals is particularly important in matches he misses.
• Gabriel Sara: Two league goals give the midfield an additional attacking contribution alongside the forwards.
• Abdülkerim Bardakcı: His 71st-minute shot from outside the penalty area settled the Kocaelispor match, illustrating how defenders can help break down a tightly organised opposition.
The early results highlight three areas to watch:
Galatasaray conceded ten goals in six league matches. Better cover and coordination between defence and midfield would give them a stronger platform for making their attacking quality count.
Against Sporting, Galatasaray took an early lead but went on to lose. The tactical question is how well they manage spells of opposition pressure and retain their organisation when the score changes.
Osimhen, Sané, Leão, Yunus Akgün and Barış Alper Yılmaz offer a variety of options. Turning that variety into clear chances and goals from several players is the next challenge.
This is an assessment of the results and squad options. Any allocation of tactical roles ultimately has to be judged by the team’s performances on the pitch.

Galatasaray began the Champions League league phase with a 1–3 away defeat against Sporting CP in Lisbon on 9 September.
They took the lead through an own goal in the fifth minute, before Sporting responded with three goals. The home match against Barcelona offers an opportunity to collect their first European points of the season.

The next spell combines the attempt to return to winning ways domestically with the need to improve the European start. Fitness and the management of players’ minutes will therefore be especially important.
What should Galatasaray’s main priority be: stronger defensive organisation, a change to the midfield balance, or more goals from the other leading players?
