DGS 2026 Additional Placement: How to Choose Preferences and Complete the Application
ÖSYM has opened preferences for DGS 2026 additional placement, which fills remaining bachelor's programme places within the route from a two-year associate degree. Preferences opened on 15 October and close on 22 October 2026 at 23:59, Türkiye time. Choosing programmes is only part of the process: eligibility rules, a preference limit and a separate payment deadline also apply.
This guide was reviewed on 18 October 2026. The dates below belong to the 2026 additional placement round and should not be reused automatically for a later year.

Dates and fees at a glance
All times are Türkiye time, UTC+3. Payment remains open until the day after preferences close, but that does not extend the time available to add programmes or change the preference list.
Who can apply?
This round is for candidates who took 2026-DGS and were not placed in any programme in the main central placement round. The decisive condition is the placement outcome, rather than whether a candidate subsequently enrolled.
This process differs from international student admission through TR-YÖS and from inter-university transfer, Yatay Geçiş. Living in Türkiye or having foreign nationality does not automatically open this round to you: your eligibility within the DGS route comes first.
Read two tables before listing programmes
In the additional placement guide, Tablo 1 lists programmes, places and relevant conditions. Tablo 2 connects your associate-degree graduation field with the bachelor's programmes you may select. Similar programme names or an affordable university do not establish eligibility on their own.
Start with your recorded graduation field, identify the permitted programmes, and check each programme code, score type and special conditions. Check the teaching language, campus and any language preparation or other requirements stated in the guide. Use the 2026 additional placement documents: last year's list, or the main-round list, may not show the places available now.
Build a preference list you would actually accept
The guide permits up to 30 preferences; you do not have to use all 30. Rank programmes in your genuine order of preference and assess the lower choices as carefully as the first: you could be placed in one of them.
The guide does not impose a previous admission base-score requirement for this round. That is not a guarantee of admission: the candidate's result, programme conditions, available places and preference order still matter in placement. Do not turn an old admission score into an unstated compulsory threshold, or treat a vacant place as a promise of acceptance.
Prepare a comparison sheet before entering the list. Include the programme name and code, why you want it, teaching language, city, tuition where applicable, and housing and transport costs. If you could not attend a particular programme after placement, reconsider including it merely to increase the number of choices.
Practical steps through the candidate system
Sign in to the official AİS candidate system and read the current additional placement announcement and guide.
Confirm that you were not placed in the main round and that the programmes you prepared match your associate-degree field.
Enter programme codes and their order carefully, then compare the on-screen list with your preparation sheet.
Complete preference registration within the deadline. A list written outside the system is not a registered application.
Return to the preference screen to confirm that the intended choices appear, and retain a copy for your own records.
After registering preferences, pay within the payment period, verify that payment was completed and keep the receipt.
This is a practical checklist rather than a promise about fixed button names; the interface wording may vary. Avoid leaving the process until the final minutes, particularly if you need to resolve access or payment problems.
Paying TRY 170 is a separate step
Pay the Ek Yerleştirme fee after registering preferences through the official ÖSYM ÖDEMELER payment service, using a credit or debit card. The guide specifies online payment for this fee; do not rely on a bank branch or ATM.
Preferences are not valid if the required fee is not paid on time. The 23 October payment deadline does not allow you to add preferences after 22 October. Exemptions exist for precisely defined groups under the guide, including qualifying relatives of martyrs and qualifying veterans and relatives. Check the official definition before assuming that an exemption applies to you.
Two examples of common misunderstandings
Example one: A candidate took DGS 2026 and received no placement in the main round. They prepare ten programmes permitted for their associate-degree field, register them in their preferred order and then pay the fee. This follows the application sequence, while admission still depends on placement, conditions and available places.
Example two: Another candidate obtained a place in the main round but declined to enrol because they disliked the programme. Not enrolling does not change their status to “not placed in any programme”, so vacant places do not make them eligible for this round.
Other mistakes include choosing a programme code for the wrong campus, assuming English-medium teaching removes all language testing requirements, or registering choices and forgetting the fee. Resolve each issue through the guide and the relevant university announcement before committing to a choice.
What to follow after the result
Follow the placement result and the enrolment instructions issued by ÖSYM and the university named in your result. Registering preferences is not university enrolment. Do not assume that this route guarantees entry into a particular study year or exemption from every associate-degree course: the university determines credit recognition and the study plan under its procedures.
Before the process closes, check four things: eligibility, correct programme codes and ranking, the registered preference list, and completed payment or a confirmed applicable exemption. This review helps prevent application errors that a good examination result alone cannot fix.
