Belgrad Forest in Istanbul: Choosing a Nature Park, Walking Routes, Transport and Costs
Belgrad Forest north of European Istanbul is a broad area containing several nature parks and entrances, rather than a single-gate park. Choosing a specific destination first helps you check its route, fees and rules instead of relying on a general claim for the whole forest.A scene near the Belgrad Forest entrance, image published in 2025.
Location and entrances
There are approaches from Bahçeköy and Kemerburgaz. Choose your nature park first, then check the most suitable entrance from your starting point. Map of the Neşetsuyu area in Belgrad Forest identifies one area, not every entrance. Check bus or car directions and your return trip on the day.
Walking and Neşetsuyu
Neşetsuyu is one nature park within the forest, and a route around Büyük Bent starts and ends there. Choose a walk appropriate to your ability and available time, and follow open paths. Do not assume all bridges and trails are usable at all times, especially after rain.
Trail conditions after October rainfall
On 26 October 2026 the responsible authority reported ongoing removal of damaged trees and repairs to bridges and surfaces on the Neşetsuyu route after heavy rain on 14–15 October. This dated report does not establish current conditions throughout the forest: check your chosen park and route before travelling and respect barriers and staff instructions.
Planning and budget
| Before the visit | What to check |
|---|---|
| Park and entrance | Which area is open, the route and entry and return hours. |
| Cost | Current pedestrian and vehicle fees, vehicle class and payment method at your entrance. |
| Activity | Trail condition, services and current picnic and fire rules. |
| Facilities | Toilets and a suitable route for a stroller or wheelchair. |

Families and safety
Bring water and shoes suited to wet ground and supervise children near water and bridges. Do not taste or collect wild mushrooms based on a photograph. Ask about accessibility before choosing a route; terrain and facilities vary between sites.
Picnic rules before you go
Check each nature park’s rules and any forest-entry, fire or barbecue restrictions on the day. A picnic area does not mean fires are always allowed. Follow weather notices, take your rubbish away and leave before the site’s closing time.- Parks and Green Spaces in Istanbul for Families
