Turkish Basketball Super League 2026–2027

The Turkish Basketball Super League season began on 25 September 2026, bringing together 16 clubs from eight provinces. The competition’s full name is Türkiye Sigorta Basketbol Süper Ligi, commonly shortened to BSL in results and news coverage.

The season combines Istanbul clubs with large followings and teams from other cities with an established basketball presence. Two clubs are making their first appearance in the top division.

From TOFAŞ’s official coverage of the season opener against Bordo Bandırma, 25 September 2026.

Participating clubs by province

Province	Clubs
Istanbul	Fenerbahçe, Anadolu Efes, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, Bahçeşehir Koleji, Esenler Erokspor
Bursa	TOFAŞ, Bursaspor
İzmir	Karşıyaka, Aliağa Petkimspor
Kocaeli	Çayırova Belediyesi, Biotekno Körfez Basket
Ankara	Türk Telekom
Denizli	Yukatel Denizli Basket
Balıkesir	Pizzabulls Bordo Bandırma
Trabzon	Trabzonspor

Çayırova Belediyesi and Pizzabulls Bordo Bandırma are playing in the top division for the first time. Körfez Basket is the current name associated with the team previously known as Manisa Basket, so older coverage may use that earlier name.

How is the title decided?

The competition starts with a regular season, in which results determine the standings, followed by the play-offs that decide the championship. The final requires three wins, making it a best-of-five series.

Finishing top of the regular-season standings therefore does not guarantee the championship; maintaining form through the play-offs is an essential part of the route to the title.

Qualification and relegation details: Check the BSL regulations for the 2026–2027 season, listed by the Turkish Basketball Federation on 28 August 2026. A previous season’s format should not automatically be applied to the current competition.

Editorial update, 15 October 2026: the conflicting descriptions of qualification in the two editions have been removed. This guide does not assert a play-in stage, direct qualification for the top eight, the length of quarter-final and semi-final series, or the relegation mechanism without access to the complete season regulations.

Opening week: decided at the last moment

The opening match showed how quickly a basketball game can turn. TOFAŞ beat Bordo Bandırma 90–89 after captain Yiğitcan Saybir scored the winner at the very last moment.

In another first-round meeting, Anadolu Efes defeated Beşiktaş 95–81. These were still early-season results: understanding the competition requires following more than one round.

Fixtures and where to watch

The second round was scheduled for 2–5 October 2026. Its fixtures included Karşıyaka v Galatasaray, Bordo Bandırma v Anadolu Efes and Beşiktaş v Trabzonspor.

The Turkish Basketball Federation publishes the detailed match programme in stages. It initially announced the first five weeks, with later weeks added progressively, taking clubs’ European commitments into account.
