Antalya is one of Türkiye's leading holiday destinations, combining natural scenery and historic sites on the Mediterranean coast. Blue sea, green mountains and ancient remains make it rewarding for both nature lovers and cultural travellers.
Popular beaches include Konyaaltı, known for its pebbles, and the sandy stretches around Lara. Small yacht and boat trips are another popular way to enjoy the coast.
The old town, Kaleiçi, has narrow streets, Ottoman houses and old fortifications overlooking the historic harbour. Nearby archaeological sites include Perge and Aspendos, whose Roman theatre is exceptionally well preserved.
The Taurus Mountains rise behind the coastal plain. Nearby waterfalls include Düden and Kurşunlu. Visitors can explore mountain villages, national parks or organised mountain excursions, choosing routes suited to the weather and their abilities.
- April to October is a popular visiting season; spring and autumn are often more comfortable for sightseeing.
- Lara has seaside hotels, while Kemer, a separate resort district west of the city, offers another coastal base.
- Allow time for Kaleiçi and its harbour.
- Visit the waterfalls early for a quieter experience.
