Kemeraltı is a historic trading district in Konak, where streets branch among shops, inns and places to eat. A walk offers gift or essential shopping alongside a glimpse of everyday İzmir. Its size and many turnings make a clear, short route more useful than trying to cover every corner in one visit.
Start with a short list: practical purchases, a souvenir, then food or a break. Leave room to explore while keeping a known starting point to return to. Walking is central to the experience, so comfortable shoes and a light, foldable bag help.

Include the tourist craft shops around Başdurak Camii, where you can find felt and leather work. An antiques bazaar also caters to those interested in old books and collectables. Ask about materials, origin and care, distinguishing decorative appeal from any claim about age or rarity.
Havra Sokağı adds a distinct food element: vegetables, fruit, cheeses, pickles, fish and sweets. It is a useful stop for experiencing the local market, choosing purchases you can store and carry through the rest of the day.

| Purpose | What to focus on |
|---|---|
| A light gift | Crafts and accessories with suitable wrapping |
| Experiencing the local market | Havra Sokağı and food shops |
| Older collectables | Condition and the seller’s written information |
Stop in one of the market’s inns or eating places. Take a break after initial browsing to review what you have seen and decide which pieces merit returning for. Shop hours vary, so contact the seller directly for a particular order.
