Following Türkiye towards EURO 2028: confirmed information and the qualifying campaign ahead
Update and correction: 14 October 2026. This file brings together the qualifying route, squad selections, training camps, matches, tactical discussion and European Championship history. The original post retains its author and date, but its earlier confusion between the World Cup and EURO 2028 needs correcting: Türkiye had not secured a place at the European finals as of this update.
Confirmed information about the route to the tournament
UEFA has scheduled the EURO 2028 qualifying draw in Belfast for 6 December 2026. Qualifying consists of 12 groups of four or five teams, playing home and away from March to November 2027, followed by play-offs in March 2028. Türkiye’s group and definitive qualifying fixtures cannot therefore be presented before the draw and official schedule are announced.
This page follows announcements from UEFA and the Turkish Football Federation, with a clear date attached to each development. General national-team preparations do not guarantee participation in the finals; qualification depends on the applicable competition system.
Groups and standings: keep competitions separate
The earlier table containing Spain, Türkiye, Georgia and Bulgaria was not a EURO 2028 qualifying table. Results cannot be transferred from one competition to another or used to claim direct qualification for the European Championship. World Cup qualifying, the Nations League and friendlies must also be distinguished when assessing performances.

For each addition, identify the date and stated time zone, opponent, stadium, whether the match is competitive or friendly, and the final score. Do not combine goals from different periods and competitions under a reference to eight games without defining the sample. Claims of defensive or attacking improvement require comparison across matches and opponents, not a definitive conclusion from one scoreline.
Line-ups and tactics: room for analysis
A starting eleven for the 2028 finals cannot be established before qualification and the tournament squad announcement. Members may discuss the advantages of 4–2–3–1, 4–3–3 or a back three, but these are analytical scenarios rather than announced coaching decisions.
Assess the distances between the lines, penalty-area protection, playing out under pressure and cover behind the full-backs. Substitutes and emerging players also deserve attention rather than assuming one group will remain unchanged until 2028.
