The Turkcell Süper Kupa edition officially named “2025” took place in January 2026, introducing four teams for the first time in place of a single match. Fenerbahçe won the title by beating Galatasaray 2–0 in the final on 10 January. The edition’s name and the year it was played are different; both belong in the record.
Editorial update: 15 October 2026. This guide concerns a completed tournament. The supplementary reply covers its matches and the title in detail.
Why did this edition matter?
A new format: a short tournament with semi-finals and a final replaced the single Super Cup match.
Three cities and three stadiums: hosting was distributed rather than concentrated in one city.
An active start to the sporting year: a tournament in early January before the continuing demands of the league and other competitions.
The format at a glance
Four teams qualified through the previous season’s league and cup results. The semi-finals were single matches, followed by a final between the winners. There were no return legs.
Dates and stadiums
| Round | Date | City and stadium |
|---|---|---|
| First semi-final | 5 January 2026 | Gaziantep — Gaziantep Stadium |
| Second semi-final | 6 January 2026 | Adana — Yeni Adana Stadium |
| Final | 10 January 2026 | Istanbul — Atatürk Olympic Stadium |
Why did the kick-off time change?
The initial announcement set 20:30 Turkish time for all three matches. The semi-finals retained that time. On 9 January, TFF brought the following day’s final forward to 18:45 after weather assessments and consultations with both clubs, taking account of warnings of rain and strong winds. It is therefore incorrect to describe all matches as having retained a fixed kick-off time.
Questions for discussion
Is a four-team format better than a single match? Who benefits more from the wider participation: the biggest clubs, or the league’s third-placed team and the cup runners-up? How does an extra January competition affect the fixture schedule, fitness and performance?
