For students in Türkiye, e-Devlet can save trips to university offices and make official documents easier to obtain. Parents can help a student understand the process, but should use only services they are authorised to access; a parent's account is not a general substitute for the student's own account.

1. What is e-Devlet?

e-Devlet is Türkiye's electronic government services portal. Students may use it to obtain official documents, demonstrate student status and access other government services linked to their records. Your university's own student information system still handles many academic tasks.

2. A key document: the student certificate

An Öğrenci Belgesi confirms your student status. It may be requested for transport discounts, eligible museum or subscription concessions, accommodation applications and some insurance or administrative procedures.

Use the official YÖK student certificate service, sign in using an accepted authentication method, and follow the service's instructions. Keep a recent, complete PDF where you need one. The receiving organisation may require a document issued within a particular period and may verify its barcode.

3. Other university documents

The YÖK services directory on e-Devlet includes student and graduation document services, verification services and a transcript service. Availability depends on the service, your university's data and your record. A detailed or specially certified document may still need to be requested from your university's system or Student Affairs office.

If your name, programme or enrolment status is missing or incorrect, contact the university responsible for the record. Repeatedly downloading the same incorrect document will not fix the underlying data.

4. Everyday uses beyond university paperwork

  • Transport: a city operator may verify active student status for a discount.
  • Accommodation: student documents can support certain hall or housing applications.
  • Health insurance: applicable services may show information associated with your insurance registration; a record does not by itself settle every question about cover.
  • Other administration: you may need personal or address records, or other services available to someone with your status.
Always check the receiving organisation's exact document list.

5. Preparing your access securely

Keep your contact details current and have access to a working phone number for the security steps used by your account. Store your login details safely and enable the available security protections.

For eligible foreign residents, PTT's password guidance says foreigners with an identity number beginning with 98 or 99 can obtain an e-Devlet password using an accepted valid identity document. Check the complete document requirements for your status before visiting. Other login methods may be available where you qualify for them.

Never hand your password or verification codes to a friend, office or intermediary. If you need help, keep control of the account and the actions performed in your name.

6. Common mistakes

Avoid submitting an outdated certificate, an unreadable printout or an incomplete PDF. Do not share your account or assume every university task is handled by e-Devlet. Check both the document's accuracy and the recipient's requirements before submitting it.

7. Frequently asked questions

Are all university services on e-Devlet?
No. Many services, including course choices and some academic requests, remain in the university's own system.

Is an e-Devlet student certificate always sufficient?
It is an official document, but the organisation receiving it decides what evidence it needs for its procedure. Check whether it asks for a particular format, date or additional university certification.

Can I obtain a document in English?
Check the service's language options and ask your university about an English version. If a translation is needed, follow the receiving organisation's requirements; a sworn translation is not automatically required in every situation.

Keep recent documents, protect your login and use the university office when the underlying record needs correcting. If you need a document for transport, accommodation or another service, share the purpose and city so the required evidence can be identified.
