🗓️ A scheduled payment sets a later date for a transfer. Creating the instruction does not prove that the recipient has been paid. Track the actual execution, particularly for rent or another payment with a deadline.

1️⃣ What a future-dated payment does

The open-banking update announced on 17 March 2026 introduced future-dated payment initiation through ÖHVPS. A bank may also offer its own scheduling feature. Establish whether you are creating the instruction directly with the bank or through a service connected to an account elsewhere.

This guide concerns a one-off transfer on a future date. A monthly recurring instruction also needs a frequency, an end condition and ongoing review.

2️⃣ Details to settle before confirmation

FieldIllustrative exampleWhy it matters
Debit accountYour Turkish-lira accountThis is where the funds will come from
PayeeName and IBAN from a reliable documentAvoid sending to an old or incorrect account
DateThe agreed payment dateSeparate creation from execution
Amount and descriptionRent amount and rental monthMatch the obligation and retain clear evidence

3️⃣ Create the instruction

📱 Open transfers or scheduled instructions in the official app. Enter the payee and amount, select an available date, and review the fee and execution method if shown. Complete authentication and keep the instruction reference or summary.

If a connected open-banking app does not offer scheduling, that need not mean your account has a problem. The provider or account may not support it. Contact the bank rather than giving an intermediary your login details.

4️⃣ Read the instruction status

Displayed statusWhat it usually indicatesYour next step
Scheduled or pendingInstructions registered for later executionReview the date and debit account
ExecutedProcessing completed under the bank’s status rulesKeep the transaction receipt and check the account
Failed or rejectedThe instruction was not completed as intendedRead the reason and resolve balance or data issues
CancelledThe instruction is cancelled in the systemKeep confirmation and check for duplicate instructions

5️⃣ Balance, holidays and amendments

💳 Make sure the debit account holds the amount and any expected fee before execution. Check the bank’s policy on holidays, processing time and retries after a failure. Do not assume that every scheduled order uses FAST or runs at precisely the same time.

An “instruction created” screen is not evidence of payment to the recipient. When changing the amount or date, review the final status and reference. The service may require cancelling the old instruction and creating another, and amendment deadlines may apply.

Making an online payment

6️⃣ If the recipient has not been paid

🧾 Check the debit account first: did the money leave? Then review the instruction status and receipt. If execution failed, resolve the cause before choosing an alternative. If the account was debited but the recipient has not received the funds, ask the bank to trace the reference.

Do not pay again until the first transaction is resolved. Keep the scheduling summary, execution receipt and relevant correspondence; they document different stages of the payment.
