📱 A QR code presents payment or recipient information, but the service behind it can vary. Establish whether you are using FAST-TR QR in a financial app, following a website link or selecting another payment method.

1️⃣ What is FAST-TR QR?

It uses the Turkish QR standard for a payment processed through FAST. It can support a payment to a person or a participating merchant. A code displayed at a checkout does not mean every banking app or wallet reads it in the same way.

The ceiling for dynamically verified FAST-TR QR merchant payments became TRY 300,000 per transaction on 26 August 2026. Your account limit and merchant and provider support still matter.

Making an online payment

2️⃣ Identify the type of code

CodePossible purposeWhat to verify
FAST-TR QR in a payment flowAn account payment through FASTPayee, amount and debit account
Card-payment QRA supported card-payment flowCard, conditions and issuer fees
Code opening a websiteA menu, website or payment linkThe address before entering information
Code sent in a messageAn account or another processSender identity and the code’s purpose

3️⃣ Paying at a merchant

🛍️ Ask the cashier which payment method is offered. Open the supported QR-payment option in your official app, scan the code, and check the review screen: merchant name, amount, currency and debit account.

If the amount is not supplied automatically, enter the agreed amount carefully. Complete authentication, retain the receipt and confirm the transaction before leaving the checkout.

Organising documents and an online application

4️⃣ A quick checklist

StageCheckStop if
Before scanningThe merchant’s code and the correct app flowThere is an added sticker or unfamiliar code
After scanningPayee and amountThe name differs or amount is wrong
Before authenticationDebit account, currency and applicable costsA code is requested outside the official process
After paymentStatus and referenceThe result is unclear or a duplicate debit is possible

5️⃣ Avoid confusion and fraud

🔐 Do not enter a bank password or verification code on a page opened by an unfamiliar code. If the displayed payee does not match the merchant, stop and ask before confirming. A QR code does not certify the recipient’s legitimacy.

An account payment through FAST is also different from a card purchase. Dispute and recovery processes may differ. Keep both merchant and payment receipts so the transaction can be identified.

Account-to-account merchant payments are an exception: the instructions prohibit charging the sender. This applies to a transaction classified as an account-to-account merchant payment; it does not make every card or QR payment free.

Seeking assistance with an application

6️⃣ A decline or a request to pay again

🧾 Check your app’s history first: did the transaction complete and debit your account? For a completed payment without merchant confirmation, use the reference to request verification. Resolve its status before paying again in cash or by card.

If it genuinely failed, read the reason and choose another accepted method. A mistaken FAST payment must be taken up with your financial provider; scanning a code does not create an automatic refund right.
