Lake Eymir in Ankara: walking, cycling and entry rules​

Lake Eymir is a natural area on Middle East Technical University land in Ankara, suitable for walking, cycling and birdwatching. Vehicle and pedestrian access follow different rules, so check before travelling.

⁦⁩ Location and access​

The lake lies between Oran and Gölbaşı in Ankara. Open the lake location on the map. Choose the gate that suits your trip and check how to reach it; the route around the lake is long and you may need to walk from the gate.

⁦⁩ Entry times and rules​

Entry on foot or by bicycle is free; transport, bicycle rental and food cost extra. Rules checked on 30 October 2026 allow pedestrians to enter from 06:00 to 22:00; no visitors are admitted after 22:00 and those inside must leave by 23:30. Vehicle entry is restricted to card holders or exempt categories at specified times, with possible further weekend restrictions. Confirm current rules and an appropriate entrance before travelling.

The route around the lake is approximately 10 km; choose a section suited to your fitness rather than assuming you must complete the circuit. Walk, cycle or watch birds. Restaurants and rest areas are available; check opening and prices before visiting.
