Equestrian Sport in Türkiye 2026: Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Endurance and Results

Competitive riding is a partnership between athlete and horse. Depending on discipline, results use faults and time, judged percentages or a combined set of tests. This guide explains Turkish competitions, programmes and results before you choose what to watch or train for. Selected sources were reviewed on 28 October 2026; announced dates require the latest update.

⁦1️⃣⁩ Choose the sporting discipline

The Turkish Equestrian Federation, TBF, lists jumping, dressage, endurance, eventing, vaulting and pony activities. Equestrian competition differs from betting on track racing, while a tourist horse ride through a valley does not constitute entry to a classified event. Search using the Turkish discipline name, year and category.

Results usually concern a particular athlete–horse combination. Changing either is significant when reading eligibility or records. Pony activities have their own programmes and category requirements; a small horse does not make every activity open to every child without checking the category and coaching assessment.

⁦2️⃣⁩ Jumping: fastest does not always win

Read the table or barème and competition format before ordering riders. The 2026 FEI rules distinguish Table A, which scores faults as penalty points, from Table C, which converts specified faults into added seconds. Do not apply points to every competition. A jump-off must also be specified in the schedule.

The following are examples from current Table A, not a complete infringement list or a ruling on a particular incident. In timed competitions, speed may separate equal fault scores according to the format; other classes run without time as a ranking factor or use different rounds.

Table A situationBasic outcomeWhat to read
Knocked-down obstacleFour penaltiesFaults before calling a round clear
First disobedienceFour penaltiesNot simply a time delay
Exceeding time allowedOne penalty per commenced secondDistinguish time allowed from time limit
Horse or athlete fallsEliminationNot a slower valid classified round

In a hypothetical format prioritising fewer faults, a clear round in 75 seconds ranks ahead of four penalties in 70 seconds. Do not transfer this example to Table C or another competition’s conditions. Separate the original round from any jump-off.

⁦3️⃣⁩ Dressage: a higher percentage in a particular test

Dressage assesses a combination performing a test of movements and transitions rather than racing to the finish. Rules award movement marks from zero to ten, with coefficients and applicable penalties reflected in percentage calculations. The highest final percentage determines individual placings in the particular competition.

Compare the test, level and category before comparing numbers. A beginner-test percentage does not establish superiority over a combination riding a higher test. Freestyle to music includes its own technical and artistic assessment. Running scores can change; use the final result and do not independently add percentages from separate competitions.

⁦4️⃣⁩ Eventing and endurance: more than a jump or speed

Eventing combines dressage, cross-country and jumping. Dressage scores are converted to penalties and added to penalties from the other tests. The lowest final total wins individually, while elimination in a test eliminates the combination from the competition. Leading dressage alone therefore does not establish the overall winner.

The Turkish name refers to “three days”, but formats differ. Long-format CCI-L can last three days or more; short-format CCI-S can run over one or more days. Read the actual test order rather than assuming a three-day spectator visit or the same cross-country position in every schedule.

Endurance involves phases, a course and veterinary controls. Its rules prioritise horse welfare and require inspections at phase control points. Speed alone cannot establish whether a combination continues or is classified. These are specialist sporting controls, not a basis for judging a horse’s health from a photograph or substituting for veterinary assessment.

⁦5️⃣⁩ Reading a real autumn 2026 Turkish programme

TBF’s calendar distinguishes cups, leagues, international events and category examinations. One announced example is the Republic Cup and ninth league round at Antalya Equestrian Club, 29 October–1 November 2026. The table extracts classes published for 1 November; these are scheduled entries rather than completed results.

Published classAdvertised fence heightDate
Young-rider league, round 9130 cm1 November 2026
Republic Cup and league, round 9145 cm; advertised start 12:001 November 2026
Women riders’ league, round 9125 cm1 November 2026

A single day contains several competitions. Results over 125 cm and 145 cm are not interchangeable, and a stated start time does not apply to the whole programme. Read the latest event schedule and arena announcements and confirm updates before travelling. A category examination listed in the calendar is not a spectator championship.

⁦6️⃣⁩ Read category, combination and result status

Begin with athlete, horse, category and competition number, then faults and time or percentage as appropriate. Separate entries from results, provisional from final standings, and individual from team totals. Winning one league round does not alone establish the season title.

Stars can identify international competition levels, while other labels concern rider or horse age and fence height. Age alone does not prove eligibility; the schedule and category documents supply the detail. Keep the result date and corrections, particularly where a short social post differs from an approved table.

Federation searches cover riders, horses, trainers and events. Use them to match identities: similar horse names do not establish the same horse. The event document remains the basis for reporting a result. An entry request or warm-up list is not a finishing position.

⁦7️⃣⁩ Watching usefully and starting training realistically

Choose discipline and class before asking the club about spectator admission, seating, access and session duration. Competition arenas, warm-up areas and stables have different access arrangements. A spectator ticket does not grant access everywhere. No universal verified tariff applies here; separate admission, transport and parking from hospitality or training packages.

For sporting participation, seek assessment by an appropriate coach before buying a horse or building a competition plan. The federation distinguishes an athlete licence from the discipline-specific category examination document required for competition. A licence or recreational ride alone does not establish qualification. Check event requirements for both athlete and horse with the club.

When comparing training prices, ask whether riding time, horse use, equipment, care, entries and transport are included. A federation administrative fee is not the full season budget. A discipline choice and assessable training plan are more useful than a promise of international competition or national-team selection that a booking cannot guarantee.

⁦8️⃣⁩ Frequently asked questions

Is equestrian sport the same as track horse racing?
Jumping, dressage, eventing and endurance are different sporting systems from track betting races.

Does the lowest time always win jumping?
The judging table, format, faults and any jump-off determine the result.

Is a higher dressage percentage better?
Yes for the final result within the same competition, applying its rules and penalties.

Does eventing last exactly three days?
Short and long formats have different lengths; the name does not guarantee a three-day visit.

Is an athlete licence enough to enter?
Check category documents, horse and athlete requirements and the schedule. A licence alone does not guarantee entry.
