Bursa Metropolitan Municipality’s Culture, Art and Development Academy is accepting applications for its 2026–2027 music-school preparation programme until 21 October 2026 at 23:59. It offers 75 places for ages 7–21 and free teaching within the programme. Applying provides an opportunity to take an aptitude examination and compete for a place; it does not guarantee enrolment or direct admission to a conservatoire. This guide draws on the official conditions, form and annexes checked on 20 October.
The aim is a structured musical foundation and preparation, according to the student’s age, level and goals, for fine-arts secondary schools, conservatoires or higher-education music programmes. Fields include piano, violin, cello, guitar, flute and voice, alongside musical hearing, reading and writing and art history. Previous musical training or instrumental experience is not required for the audition. Once admitted, however, students are expected to attend and practise independently on a regular basis.
| Group | Age | Places |
|---|---|---|
| Primary school | 7–9 | 25 |
| Middle school | 10–14 | 25 |
| Secondary school/graduates/university, as labelled | 14–21 | 25 |
Both age and educational stage determine the group. A fourteen-year-old at middle school applies to that group; one attending secondary school applies to the secondary group. Each candidate belongs to one group only. Because the conditions also request a student certificate despite including “graduates” in the group label, a graduate should ask the administration which alternative document is accepted rather than assuming age alone establishes eligibility.
The official admission conditions make all educational fields and lessons within this programme free. This means tuition within the programme costs TRY 0. Free instruments or loans of instruments, materials, transport and meals have not been established. The reviewed conditions and form do not specify a separate application or audition fee; absence of a figure should not be turned into a promise that every ancillary service is free.
The form displays a mandatory T.C. Kimlik No field and Bursa’s seventeen districts. No separate foreign-identity or passport option appeared on the inspected page. This alone neither establishes a legal citizenship restriction nor confirms eligibility for foreign nationals or applicants outside Bursa. If affected, ask the operator before arranging travel or uploading documents: is your identity document accepted, and what proof of residence or education is required? Do not use another person’s number to bypass the field.

The announcement and conditions agree on closing, although the poster and introduction show an opening date of 17 October while the detailed calendar gives 16 October. The confirmed deadline is therefore the useful reference here. The document states 23:59 without naming a time zone. Do not automatically treat the teaching address as your audition venue: the 22 October notification determines your individual appointment and location.
1) Read the official programme page and its annexes, then match your age and educational stage. Note questions about graduate status, identity documents or accessibility support.
2) Open the official music aptitude examination application form. Prepare the student’s details, contact information and, for a minor, the guardian’s information. A guardian or legal representative submits or approves an under-eighteen’s application; an adult applies in their own name.
3) Check contact details and documents before submission, and retain the application confirmation and candidate number. The form warns that completing the file upload automatically sends the form: treat uploading as a submission step rather than testing with arbitrary files. Completing an application does not establish a right to final enrolment.
4) Follow the 22 October notification and record the appointment, venue and journey. Request accessibility or other special support through the contact channel after notification; arrangements preserve the musical skills assessed and the scoring criteria.
5) Prepare the examination-day documents and outward and return journeys, then monitor results and registration dates. This is a suggested family planning method, not a replacement for the operator’s individual instructions.
For a minor, bring the candidate’s original identity document, a current school/student certificate or verifiable electronic printout confirming stage and class, a printed application confirmation with candidate number, the guardian/legal representative’s consent, and their original identity document, plus proof of representation where necessary. The official consent form in Annex 2 may be used. A second signature is not required where equivalent verifiable electronic consent has already been collected. A minor attends with their guardian or legal representative.
Applicants aged eighteen or over bring their own identity document, student certificate and application/appointment notice and sign for themselves. Arrive at least fifteen minutes before the assigned appointment. Previous application does not entitle a late arrival to admission. For illness or another justified absence, inform the operator promptly by telephone or email; evidence may be requested. An additional appointment depends on the commission and calendar and is not guaranteed.
| Examination component | Maximum points |
|---|---|
| Single-note repetition | 20 |
| Two-note repetition | 20 |
| Three-note repetition | 20 |
| Melody repetition | 20 |
| Rhythm repetition | 20 |
| Total | 100 |
In two- and three-note tasks, candidates repeat separately the sounds heard together; melody and rhythm examples are presented twice. Candidates who play may give an optional short performance, but it does not contribute to the score. Bring a portable instrument only if choosing to perform; otherwise an instrument is not required. The annexed sample assessment sheet illustrates commission practice and does not guarantee a fixed number of questions for every candidate.
At least 70 out of 100 is required for ranking, without guaranteeing a place. Qualifying candidates are ranked within their groups against available capacity. The stated tie-break first considers combined single-, two- and three-note scores, then rhythm and melody scores. The instrument commission determines the admitted student’s branch; a preferred instrument such as piano is not guaranteed. Reserve candidates are called in order if main-list candidates do not register. Formal written appeals follow the deadline above, with decisions by 30 October.
The announced load is five lesson periods each week, fifty minutes per period. Planned teaching days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, but this does not mean every student attends all five days: individual timetables are notified separately. The teaching address is Santral Garaj Mahallesi, Ulubatlı Hasan Bulvarı, Merinos Atatürk Kongre Kültür Merkezi, West Entrance, Orchestra Directorate, Osmangazi/Bursa. Consider repeated travel and home practice before accepting a place.
The conditions allow ten absence days overall, excluding absences supported by a medical report. Families should keep contact details current and support attendance. The privacy notice explains data processing. Consent to promotional photographs and recordings is separate and optional; refusing it is not an adverse condition for admission or teaching.
For identity, document or instrument questions, contact the Bursa Municipal Orchestra Directorate on 0224 716 3600 or at [email protected]. Published office hours of 08:00–17:00 are not audition or lesson times. Build the family day around the audition, adding a visit or meal only if time permits; do not tie an appointment whose individual time is not yet known to a narrowly timed sea crossing.
