Türkiye 1. Lig 2026–2027: Clubs, Promotion, Play-offs and Following the Season
Following a club outside the Süper Lig, or trying to understand its route back? First identify the competition: 1. Lig is Türkiye’s second tier, with its own clubs, fixtures and promotion play-offs. This guide explains the 2026–2027 season rather than providing live standings or predicting who will go up.

Where does 1. Lig fit?
The league sits directly below the Süper Lig and above 2. Lig. Its name does not make it the country’s top competition: using the Turkish competition name helps you find the correct table. Twenty clubs take part in 2026–2027, meeting every other club at home and away.
That produces 38 matches per team and 38 regular-season rounds. The Turkish Cup is separate: a cup result does not enter the league points total, and cup elimination does not mean relegation. Information was checked on 28 October 2026; results and schedules continue to change during the season.
| Competition | Level | What to follow |
|---|---|---|
| Süper Lig | First tier | The division promoted clubs enter |
| 1. Lig | Second tier; 20 clubs | Regular season followed by promotion play-offs |
| 2. Lig | Third tier | The division receiving relegated clubs |
Know the participating clubs
The following twenty clubs appeared in the 2026–2027 season table when checked. Short names make the list easier to read; an official match announcement may add a sponsor or the club’s legal company designation. Keep the Turkish spelling when searching for the club or tickets.
This is a membership list, not a ranking. Promotion and relegation change the participants, so a club missing from last season’s list does not itself mean the new list is wrong. Match the full club identity, crest and competition, particularly where a city has more than one team.

Promotion and relegation at season end
The teams finishing first and second in the regular season are promoted directly to the Süper Lig. Third place does not provide automatic promotion: it provides direct entry to the play-off final. The clubs finishing fourth to seventh compete for the right to face that finalist.
At the other end, the teams finishing 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th go down to 2. Lig. These consequences follow the final regular-season positions. A club in the relegation zone in October occupies a temporary position, to be considered alongside matches played and points, rather than already being officially relegated.
How the play-off route works
Fourth plays seventh, and fifth plays sixth, in single matches hosted by the fourth- and fifth-placed clubs. A draw after normal time brings two 15-minute extra-time periods, followed by penalties if still level. The winner progresses, irrespective of the difference in the clubs’ earlier league positions.
The two winners then meet over two legs, with the lower-ranked regular-season club hosting the first leg. If wins or draws are equal across the two matches, the aggregate goals decide who advances; a further tie brings extra time after the second leg and then penalties if needed. Do not import an away-goals advantage from another competition.
The winner meets the third-placed club in a single final at a neutral venue chosen by the federation. Extra time and penalties also apply there if necessary. As an illustrative example, a seventh-placed club must win the first match, the two-legged stage and the final; the third-placed club begins at the final.
| Position or stage | Route | Meaning for supporters |
|---|---|---|
| First and second | Direct promotion | No play-off for the third promotion place |
| Third | Directly into the final | Waits for the other route’s winner |
| Fourth to seventh | First round, then two legs | Higher position affects hosting order |
| Final | One match at a neutral venue | Winner takes the third promotion place |
Read points with matches played and deductions
Start with the season, matches played and points before comparing goal difference and the remaining columns. A club with an outstanding fixture may be behind a rival that has played more matches. A dash alongside a scheduled game is not a draw or an awarded win.
Check points deductions separately from the wins-and-draws record. Where arithmetic appears inconsistent, consult the relevant decision and its date rather than inventing a financial or disciplinary explanation. The table’s head-to-head note also depends on the relevant meetings being completed; a provisional mid-season display is not a final tie-break ruling.
Follow a particular match accurately
Open the 2026–2027 1. Lig programme, select the round and find your club’s game. Record its date, time, home team and ground, opening match details when needed. Include the competition name in your calendar: the same clubs could also meet in the cup.
For television or streaming, check the authorised broadcaster’s schedule for that game and the package conditions where you are located. A channel showing the Turkish Cup does not automatically show the league fixture, and an app available to download does not itself grant free viewing. Afterwards, use a completed result and match record rather than an old preview headline.
Plan a visit around the actual fixture
Choose a match in a city you can reach and leave, then use the host club’s announcement and its designated seller. There is no single league-wide ticket price: categories, charges and eligibility vary by game. The linked match-attendance guide covers the general ticket process in more detail.
Check the ground for this particular fixture. A host venue can change with federation approval, so an old stadium photograph is insufficient. Match the gate and seat to your ticket, and ask early about access, companion arrangements or children’s admission where relevant. Confirm the date and venue before committing to transport and accommodation, allowing for crowds after the final whistle.
A manageable routine is to follow one or two clubs, review their programmes weekly and record when the table was checked. Note whether a date is provisional or confirmed and whether the information concerns the league, cup or play-offs. That makes the season easier to follow and highlights what needs checking before each visit.
Common questions
Is 1. Lig the Turkish top flight?
No. It is the second tier, below the Süper Lig and above 2. Lig.
Does third place mean automatic promotion?
No. It gives a direct place in the play-off final, which the club must win.
Is every play-off stage a single match?
No. The first round and final are single matches, with a two-legged stage in between.
Is this club list a current ranking?
No. It lists season participants without points or predictions. Consult the latest table for positions.
Will every date and venue remain unchanged?
Check change notices and your ticket conditions, confirming the particular fixture before travelling.
