What has been completed?
TOKI’s 9 October 2026 statement reported 455,357 independent units completed in the earthquake region, with delivery to beneficiaries announced at the 27 December 2025 ceremony. Its 6 February 2026 anniversary material also described completed homes and residents settling into new neighbourhoods in affected provinces. That cumulative figure should not be presented as homes whose construction began in 2026. “Independent units” should also retain the definition used by the announcement, rather than assuming every figure in every statement refers to identical apartments.
Totals for different programmes
| Reported figure | Scope and period | Do not confuse it with |
|---|---|---|
| 455,357 independent units | Earthquake reconstruction total linked to December 2025 delivery | New output begun in 2026 |
| 83,504 social homes | Completed in 58 cities in the first nine months of 2026 | Earthquake units awaiting handover |
| 11 affected provinces | Reconstruction scope in February’s anniversary material | Identical services in every neighbourhood |
A nationwide completion announcement does not describe every road, facility or individual administrative case. A social-housing lottery in an affected province is not automatically the same beneficiary’s earthquake recovery allocation.

Identify your programme first
Is the file for a person affected by the earthquake, a purchase through an open sale, or a social-housing application? Each route has its own conditions and contact points. Record the project, neighbourhood, phase and unit number if assigned, then collect the entitlement decision or contract and notices.Use a specific question when contacting an authority: “What is the allocation status of my unit?” or “What handover timetable applies to my phase?” A general question about when a province’s reconstruction will finish is unlikely to answer an individual case precisely.
Checking project status
| Document or indicator | What to look for | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Entitlement or allocation decision | Beneficiary and programme name | Separate your file from another campaign |
| Project identification | Neighbourhood, phase and unit | Match the correct development |
| Handover notice or schedule | Date, office and required documents | Arrange key collection |
| Inspection and defect record | Unit and associated facilities | Document follow-up items |
| Payment statement | Amounts due under your file | Avoid importing another scheme’s terms |

Structural safety and daily services
TOKI describes raft foundations, tunnel-form construction and low-rise design in a number of its projects. These explain the approach in the referenced developments; they are not individual engineering certificates for every apartment or a guarantee that damage is impossible.Assess the services your family needs as well: access, water, electricity, schooling, healthcare and transport. A facility shown in a neighbourhood plan is not necessarily operating on moving day. Photograph cracks or technical issues and request professional assessment rather than drawing conclusions from the building’s age alone.
Planning the family’s move
Maintain temporary accommodation until actual handover is confirmed, and keep copies of notices and appointments. At collection, record keys, meters, defects and the neighbourhood management contact. The aim is a practical answer about the unit, services and obligations. National figures provide valuable context, but they do not replace clear project documentation or resolution of a specific housing request.
