Turkish Clubs in the Conference League 2026–2027: Results, Fixtures and Qualification

Trabzonspor represent Türkiye in this season's UEFA Conference League league phase, having transferred from the Europa League play-offs. Başakşehir's campaign ended in qualifying. The competition has added significance for Turkish supporters this season: Istanbul will host the final on 2 June 2027.

Last updated: 24 October 2026, after Trabzonspor's first two league-phase matches. They won both games and collected 6 points, appearing joint third with Brann in the UEFA table read at the update date. This is a provisional position after two rounds, not secured qualification or a forecast of the final table.

Turkish clubs' qualifying campaigns

Trabzonspor reached the Conference League league phase after losing their Europa League play-off against Ferencváros. They lost 1–0 at home and 4–0 away, a 5–0 aggregate defeat, then transferred directly into the Conference League league phase under the competition's rules.

Başakşehir were eliminated in the second qualifying round by Finland's Inter Turku. A 1–1 draw in Istanbul on 22 July was followed by a 2–0 defeat in Finland on 30 July, ending their campaign with a 3–1 aggregate loss.

Those results concern qualifying and remain part of Türkiye's participation history. Trabzonspor's record below concerns the league phase itself. Their transfer from the Europa League happened in qualifying; it does not create another transfer route if their Conference League league-phase campaign ends.

Two completed league-phase results

The version dated 1 October explained that the league phase had not begun and that the opening match was scheduled for 15 October. The matches on 15 and 22 October have now been completed, so this update separates their results from the four remaining fixtures. Results come from UEFA's official Conference League fixtures by team, with UEFA's Trabzonspor–Hearts match report for details of the second match.

Against Hearts, Salah scored a penalty in the 32nd minute and Franculino scored in the 58th. Lopes Cabral was sent off in the 90+5 minute. The timing of the dismissal does not establish that it caused the whole result.

These times use UTC+3. UEFA's published Central European Time, CET, is UTC+1 on these dates, so two hours have been added. Check UEFA's official Conference League fixtures by team before arranging travel or viewing; dates and times may change following decisions by the organisers. A final date alone does not establish the final's kick-off time.

Across the league phase, the team play three matches at home and three away, ending with a trip to Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade. After the away game at KuPS and the home game against Hearts, two home and two away matches remain. The six dates should no longer all be treated as future fixtures.

Competition format and the practical qualification routes

The league phase brings together 36 clubs in one table. Each team play six matches against six different opponents: three at home and three away. The standings cover all clubs, rather than separate small groups or home-and-away series against the same opponents. There are six matches here, rather than the eight played in the Champions League and Europa League.

Final positionRoutePractical difference
1–8Direct qualification for the round of 16Avoid February's play-offs and enter the round of 16 as seeded clubs
9–16Seeded in the knockout phase play-offsFace a club finishing 17–24; in principle, the seeded club hosts the second leg
17–24Unseeded in the knockout phase play-offsMust win a two-legged tie to reach the round of 16
25–36Elimination from European competitionNo knockout participation or transfer to another competition

The line between eighth and ninth separates direct entry from the play-offs; the line between 24th and 25th separates continued participation from elimination. These boundaries are settled after six matches, not the second-round table. Under Article 19 of the 2026/27 Conference League regulations, the seeded pairs 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 and 15/16 face pairs 23/24, 21/22, 19/20 and 17/18 respectively. Clubs do not simply draw any opponent from the entire other half.

Tie-breakers: the provisional table differs from the final one

Under Article 18 of the 2026/27 Conference League regulations, clubs level on points after all six matches are separated in this order: goal difference; goals scored; away goals scored; wins; away wins; collective points of opponents; collective goal difference of opponents; collective goals scored by opponents; lower disciplinary points; then higher club coefficient. Head-to-head results are not on this list.

Disciplinary points cover players and team officials: 3 for a red card, 1 for a yellow card and 3 for dismissal for two yellow cards. They compare discipline and are not added to match points in the standings.

During rounds 1–5, only the first five criteria apply. If clubs remain equal, they share a position and are displayed alphabetically by short name. All ten criteria apply after round six. Calling Trabzonspor joint third on 24 October is therefore more precise than treating the visual order of names as a final advantage; UEFA's standings and provisional-table explanation explains the provisional table.

Two hypothetical examples of points and goal difference

Points example: a club with 6 points takes a win, a draw and a defeat from three subsequent games. It adds 3 + 1 + 0 = 4 points and reaches 10. This explains arithmetic, rather than forecasting Trabzonspor's matches or guaranteeing qualification on 10 points. Other clubs' results and the ranking criteria still matter.

Goal-difference example: a club with 6 goals scored and 2 conceded starts on +4. If it hypothetically wins 1–0, its totals become 7 scored and 2 conceded, giving +5. If level on points with a club on +4, it ranks above that club on goal difference. If goal difference is also equal, goals scored and the remaining criteria follow in order; neither head-to-head results nor a penalty shoot-out decides the league-phase table.

A dated assessment: what changed after the opening matches?

The 1 October assessment followed a Europa League play-off without a goal scored and with five conceded, highlighting chance creation and defensive organisation. It also identified consecutive home fixtures against Hearts and Freiburg as an opportunity to build an early points return. That earlier context remains useful, but should be distinguished from the two matches subsequently played.

After two rounds, Trabzonspor had scored in both games, winning 4–2 away and then 2–0 at home. They have built an early return of 6 points, with Freiburg still to come from that pair of consecutive Trabzon fixtures. A clean sheet in the second match differs from conceding twice in the opener, but such a small sample cannot establish permanent defensive improvement.

Chance creation, retaining possession away from home and avoiding defensive mistakes remain useful things to watch, rather than statistics established by the scorelines alone. This guide does not supply unverified shot or possession figures, line-ups or injuries. Qualification depends on six matches and the final table, rather than reassurance from two wins alone.

Knockout rounds and the Istanbul final

The complete calendar, venue and winner's entitlement appear in UEFA's 2026/27 season, calendar and final guide. Dates may change following decisions by the organisers. The stadium's archive photograph is not a photograph of the 2027 final, which has yet to take place.

Article 19 makes the top eight seeded in the round of 16, hosting the second leg in principle. Clubs finishing 1–4 host quarter-final second legs, and those finishing 1–2 host semi-final second legs. If one is eliminated, the club that knocks it out inherits its position in the path; the surviving clubs are not ranked afresh every round.

Under Article 21 of the 2026/27 Conference League regulations, an aggregate draw in a two-legged tie leads to two 15-minute periods of extra time in the second leg, followed by penalties if the scores remain level. Away goals do not count double; that is different from using away goals scored as a league-phase ranking criterion. Article 22 of the 2026/27 Conference League regulations provides for one final at a predetermined neutral venue, with extra time and penalties if required.

The winners earn a place in the 2027–2028 Europa League league phase unless they qualify for the Champions League or Europa League through their domestic competition. This is the winner's entitlement, not an automatic place for every play-off or round-of-16 participant.

How to follow results and fixtures accurately

Start with UEFA's fixtures by team to distinguish a completed result from an upcoming match. Open the individual match report for scorers and events instead of inferring them from a short fixture table. Check the standings alongside matches played and the reading date. Use the Conference League regulations to interpret positions and tie-breakers rather than transferring a Europa League explanation without competition-specific verification.

For dates, use UEFA's official Conference League fixtures by team; for the provisional position, use UEFA's standings and provisional-table explanation. Record the time zone when copying a kick-off time and check for changes before arranging travel or viewing. The article's update date is not the date of every match it describes.

Frequently asked questions

Are Başakşehir in the league phase alongside Trabzonspor?
No. Their campaign ended against Inter Turku in qualifying, while Trabzonspor represent Türkiye in the league phase.

Why did Trabzonspor transfer from the Europa League?
The transfer followed elimination from the Europa League play-offs under qualifying rules. It does not make elimination from the Conference League league phase a route into another competition.

Do they face all 35 other clubs?
No. They have six different opponents, three matches in Trabzon and three away, with results contributing to one table of 36 clubs.

Does joint third mean they have qualified?
No. It is a provisional position on 24 October after two matches. Direct qualification requires a top-eight finish after all six games.

What is the difference between finishing ninth and 17th?
Both enter the play-offs, but ninth is in the seeded 9–16 band and 17th in the unseeded 17–24 band. In principle, the seeded club hosts the second leg under the draw path.

Do 10 points or a strong goal difference guarantee progress?
This guide offers no guaranteed threshold. The examples are hypothetical, and positions depend on everyone's results and the ranking criteria. Goal difference is one criterion, not a promise of qualification.

Are head-to-head results or the away-goals rule used?
Head-to-head results are not a league-phase ranking criterion here. Away goals scored are a criterion for that table, but do not count double when deciding an aggregate knockout score.

Which time zone is used, and does this guide confirm a final kick-off time?
The four remaining fixtures use Türkiye and Saudi Arabia time, UTC+3, converted from published CET. No final kick-off time is given because the calendar read did not establish one; check the official announcement before making arrangements.
