For a glimpse of old Antalya inside a historic Ottoman house in the heart of Kaleiçi,
the Suna & İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum combines history, architecture and local identity.

The museum occupies two heritage buildings:
– a restored Ottoman-period house,
– and a former church adapted as a cultural exhibition space.

1️⃣ The Museum's Kaleiçi Setting 🏘️

  • 📍 Where is it?
    • In Kaleiçi, at Barbaros Mahallesi, Kocatepe Sokak, No. 22, Antalya.
    • Reach it on foot while exploring the Ottoman houses and small cafés, choosing a route suitable for your walking needs.
  • 🏘️ The neighbourhood is part of the experience:
    • The walk to the museum gives a sense of the city's earlier character.
    • Combine it with the Kaleiçi harbour and nearby restaurants.

2️⃣ What Will You See Inside? 🏛️

  • 🏠 An Ottoman house with traditional furnishings:
    • Rooms presenting domestic life in earlier Antalya, with reception and family settings and traditional furnishings.
    • Details such as carpets, wooden doors, windows and everyday utensils.
  • 👗 Former ways of life:
    • Displays about traditional clothing, wedding customs and family life.
    • Dioramas depicting people and household rituals, including everyday activities and special occasions.
  • ⛪ The former church:
    • The museum includes the former Aya Yorgi Church, where the Çanakkale ceramics collection is displayed.
    • Check the current exhibition programme rather than assuming that an exhibition seen in earlier photographs or news is still running.

3️⃣ How Long Should You Allow, and Who Will Enjoy It? ⏱️

  • ⏱️ Suggested duration:
    • Around 30–60 minutes suits most visitors.
    • You may comfortably spend more than an hour if you enjoy photographs and close attention to details.
  • 🎯 Particularly appealing to:
    • Visitors who love Ottoman architecture and historic houses.
    • Those interested in people's lives alongside statues and stone monuments.
    • Photographers, as the buildings offer many attractive details, subject to the photography rules.
  • ⚠️ Perhaps less suited to:
    • Visitors interested solely in large Greek or Roman antiquities.
    • Those who prefer very large museums and have little interest in heritage houses.

4️⃣ Visiting Tips 📝

  • 👣 Combining it with a Kaleiçi walk:
    • Start at one of Kaleiçi's gateways, explore the lanes and harbour, and finish at the museum, or reverse the order; check opening arrangements first.
    • Make it part of an old-town itinerary rather than setting aside a whole day. The museum closes on Mondays and certain holidays; confirm the arrangements for your date before travelling.
  • 📷 Photography:
    • The house and garden can provide memorable photographs, wherever photography is permitted.
    • Avoid disturbing other visitors in the narrow rooms.

A final thought:
The Suna & İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum offers an intimate view
of Antalya as an Ottoman Mediterranean city, through its houses, details and daily life.

If you are visiting Kaleiçi, the museum can make your walk richer and more informative
than a stroll among lanes and cafés alone.
