The turn of 2025–2026 brought a busy sporting calendar to Türkiye, with international events to host and important qualification matches to contest. This archived season preview brings together some of the principal dates and competitions to follow.
UEFA Europa League final: Istanbul's Beşiktaş Park was selected to stage the final on 20 May 2026, making the city a focal point for European club football and its international audience.
2026 World Cup play-offs: Türkiye faced a decisive route in March 2026, seeking a return to the World Cup in North America. The semi-final against Romania was scheduled for 26 March, with a further final on 31 March if Türkiye progressed.
The Süper Lig: The first half of 2025–2026 concluded with the December round ending on 22 December 2025. The final fixture list shows that the second half began on 17 January 2026, resuming the contest for the championship.
Women's EuroVolley 2026: Türkiye was one of four co-hosts, alongside Czechia, Azerbaijan and Sweden. The tournament dates were 21 August–6 September 2026, with Istanbul hosting the semi-finals and medal matches. The “Sultans of the Net” entered the competition seeking to defend their European title.
FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup: Istanbul hosted the tournament from 27 June to 5 July 2026. It offered an opportunity to watch emerging international players in Istanbul.
Runtalya Marathon: Antalya's international running event was dated 5 April 2026, bringing together runners from Türkiye and abroad.
Istanbul Half Marathon: The international race took place on 19 April 2026, with the Historic Peninsula providing the setting.
European Track Cycling Championships: Konya hosted the elite championships from 1 to 5 February 2026, highlighting the city's modern velodrome and its role in international cycling.
Snowboard World Cup: The official organiser invitation scheduled a snowboard cross World Cup event at Palandöken, Erzurum, for 6–8 March 2026, drawing on the region's mountain-sport facilities. Those are the published event dates, rather than a statement about individual race results. The preliminary programme allowed changes for snow conditions and jury decisions, and the official record shows subsequent race-date adjustments.
Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup: Antalya's event was scheduled for 12–15 March 2026 at the İbrahim Çolak Gymnastics Hall, providing a stage for leading international gymnasts, including competitors with world and Olympic experience.
Calendar reviewed in October 2026. This is a record of the 2026 programme originally presented as a season preview; the listed dates have already passed. Published invitations and schedules are distinguished from independently checked outcomes.
