Hospital Appointments in Türkiye: MHRS, 182 and Other Booking Systems​

1️⃣ 📌 Does one system cover every hospital?​

No. Booking depends on the provider:
🔹 Ministry of Health public hospitals: usually MHRS or 182.
🔹 State university hospitals: some clinics use MHRS; others use a university system.
🔹 Foundation university hospitals: usually their own website or call centre.
🔹 Private hospitals: website, app, telephone or international patient unit.
🔹 Patients travelling from abroad for treatment: the health-tourism unit or HealthTürkiye portal.

An appointment does not establish that care is free or insured. Booking and financial cover are separate checks.

2️⃣ 🏥 Booking a public hospital through MHRS​

Use:
✅ The official MHRS website.
✅ The MHRS mobile app.
✅ 182 from within Türkiye.
✅ MHRS access through e-Devlet.

Steps:
1️⃣ Sign in.
2️⃣ Select the province and district.
3️⃣ Select hospital, family-doctor or dental appointments, as appropriate.
4️⃣ Select the hospital.
5️⃣ Select the specialty.
6️⃣ Select a doctor if appointments are shown.
7️⃣ Select the date and time.
8️⃣ Check and save the appointment details.

The search may offer a named doctor or any available doctor in the same specialty. Website and app booking is free; calls to 182 are charged at the applicable ordinary telephone rate.

3️⃣ 👤 Can foreign nationals use MHRS?​

A foreign national with a valid Yabancı Kimlik Numarası (YKN) — foreign identity number can use MHRS or ALO 182, subject to the system recognising their identity details. Keep the registered telephone and identity information up to date so appointment and confirmation messages reach you.

Bring the documents relevant to your circumstances:
✅ Residence card or foreign identity card.
✅ Passport.
✅ Insurance policy.
✅ Prior insurance authorisation, if applicable.
✅ Previous reports, laboratory results and images.

A YKN enables identity-based booking; it does not itself prove SGK or private insurance cover.

4️⃣ 🛂 If you do not have a YKN​

Tourists and patients arriving for treatment without a YKN should contact:
🔹 Uluslararası Hasta Birimi — international patient unit.
🔹 Sağlık Turizmi Birimi — health-tourism unit.
🔹 The hospital appointments centre.
🔹 The official HealthTürkiye portal.

The hospital may request:
✅ A passport copy.
✅ Medical reports.

✅ A medicine list.
✅ Your previous doctor's diagnosis.
✅ Expected arrival date.
✅ Contact details and preferred language.

After reviewing the file, it may allocate a doctor and appointment and send an initial quotation.

5️⃣ ⏰ Confirming an MHRS appointment​

For appointments subject to the confirmed-appointment system:
🔹 Confirm by 20:00 on the day before the appointment.
🔹 Confirm through MHRS, the app or ALO 182.
🔹 An unconfirmed appointment may be cancelled automatically.
🔹 Appointments booked within the two days before attendance are automatically confirmed.
🔹 A confirmed appointment can be cancelled by 20:00 the previous day.
🔹 Confirming and then failing to attend without cancellation may prevent new bookings in the same specialty for 15 days.
🔹 Exemptions include people over 65 and patients with cancer.

Always read the notice in your account: confirmation status can depend on the appointment and specialty.

6️⃣ 🎓 Booking a university hospital​

Not every university hospital or clinic appears in MHRS. On the university's official website, look for:

These mean appointments, online appointments, hospital appointment system and international patient unit.

Possible routes include:
✅ The university's own booking system.
✅ Its call centre.
✅ MHRS for selected clinics.
✅ Sending reports for departmental review before booking.
✅ A doctor's referral for some specialist services.

For an appointment with a university professor, ask:

7️⃣ 🏨 Booking a private hospital​

Usual channels include:

🔹 International patient unit.

Give your name exactly as it appears on your identity document and confirm:
✅ The exact branch.
✅ Doctor and specialty.
✅ Arrival time.
✅ Consultation charge.
✅ Whether your policy covers the branch and doctor.
✅ Prior authorisation requirements.
✅ Required documents and reports.
✅ Any interpreting charge.

A receptionist saying “we accept this insurer” does not confirm that your particular policy, plan, doctor and service qualify.

8️⃣ 🌍 Booking treatment from abroad​

Send your records to a facility authorised for health tourism and request:
1️⃣ An initial clinical assessment.
2️⃣ The doctor's and team's names.
3️⃣ A proposed appointment.
4️⃣ Expected length of stay.
5️⃣ A written quotation.
6️⃣ Included services.
7️⃣ Cancellation and refund terms.
8️⃣ Follow-up arrangements after you return home.

Obtain written confirmation before booking flights, particularly where treatment depends on a committee decision, implant availability or a hospital bed.

9️⃣ 🔎 If no appointment is available​

🔸 Activate appointment alerts where offered.
🔸 Check for cancellations.
🔸 Try another public hospital in the province.
🔸 Expand the search to a nearby district.
🔸 Look for another doctor in the same specialty.
🔸 Ask your family doctor whether a referral or different specialty is appropriate.
🔸 Check university hospital booking systems separately.

Do not use the emergency department simply because routine appointments are unavailable. Seek emergency care if your condition is medically urgent.

Aim to arrive 15–30 minutes early, especially for a first visit.
1️⃣ Go to registration or the barcode kiosk.
2️⃣ Show your identity document or passport.
