Eskişehir combines walks along the Porsuk River with parks offering science and leisure activities for children. You can visit the river and Sazova in one day, allowing time to travel between them: the popular riverside area is in the city centre, while Sazova is in Tepebaşı.
Adalar is one of the best-known areas for a riverside stroll, with cafés, places to sit and bridges offering different photographic views. Start around Köprübaşı, then follow the water and pause for coffee or a light meal.
Choose a length of waterfront that suits your time and leave room to explore nearby streets. A riverside walk and a café stop make a satisfying simple outing without booking another activity.
Eskişehir Municipality lists sightseeing boat and gondola trips on the Porsuk. They offer a different perspective on the bridges and waterfront buildings from the walking route.
Before buying a ticket, ask at the departure point about the route, duration, passenger limit and whether the fare is per person or per boat. Confirm that trips are running that day, especially if the weather changes. A service listed as a visitor attraction does not necessarily keep the same timetable all year.
Sazova Science, Culture and Art Park covers approximately 400,000 square metres. It has a lake, walking areas, the Fairy-tale Castle and a galleon, alongside science, space and animal attractions.
Identify the activities that interest your family and plan a walking route between them. Allow roughly half a day for a selection of the park's attractions, longer if entering several facilities. This is an itinerary suggestion, rather than an official visit duration.
Masal Şatosu, the Fairy-tale Castle, has colourful towers inspired by several Turkish architectural landmarks. Its storytelling sessions, performances and activities make checking the programme worthwhile before choosing an entry time.
Kalyon Gemisi, the park's galleon, can be included in a lakeside walk and photography stop. With young children, choosing two main activities leaves time for rest and play.
Bilim Deney Merkezi offers interactive experiments through which children and adults can explore scientific phenomena by taking part and observing.
Sabancı Uzay Evi, the Sabancı Space House, presents astronomy programmes on a domed screen. Check the show's subject, language and recommended age, and obtain tickets before the session: admission ends when the show begins.
The official schedule published when this guide was prepared lists the Science Experiment Centre and Space House as closed on Mondays. Session times vary with the season and school calendar.
Sazova also contains the zoo and Eti Sualtı Dünyası, Eti Underwater World. If animals and aquatic life interest your family, set aside separate time for them and check which sections the ticket covers before buying.
The park's address is Sazova Mahallesi, Ulusal Egemenlik Bulvarı, Tepebaşı. For public transport, check municipal bus routes and times from your starting point, or take a taxi between the park and city centre.
A suggested programme:
• Morning: Sazova, the lake and Fairy-tale Castle.
• During the visit: a science activity or animal attraction, according to interests and session times.
• Afternoon: travel to the centre for a walk along the Porsuk.
• Evening: relax in Adalar. Move the boat trip earlier if its last departure is before your planned riverside visit.
Wear comfortable shoes, carry water on warm days and plan around any booked show. Check the fee for each activity separately when budgeting.
