This 2025 guide covers travel to Türkiye for Gulf citizens: checking entry requirements, choosing an application route when a visa is needed, preparing documents and avoiding common mistakes.

English editorial clarification — checked on 8 October 2026: Ordinary passport holders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman have visa exemptions for qualifying short visits. Start by checking the exemption, not by paying for an e-Visa. The permitted period and purpose are governed by the country-specific entry in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official visa information. The application sections below apply only when your nationality, travel document or purpose requires a visa. Gulf residence alone does not confer a Gulf citizen's exemption.

At a glance

  • First check whether your passport and purpose of travel are visa-exempt. If a visa is required, establish whether you qualify for e-Visa or must apply through a Turkish mission or its authorised centre.
  • Prepare a valid passport, reliable contact details and a clear travel plan. Six months' passport validity after arrival is a useful planning margin; check the actual validity rule for your permitted stay and nationality.
  • A successfully completed e-Visa application provides a download link. Consular processing varies; do not rely on a fixed number of working days.

Who is this guide for?

- Citizens of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman planning a short visit for tourism or business. Permission for employment or study must be checked separately.

Eligibility and application route

  • Visa exemption: The current ordinary-passport rules cover short visits for all six countries. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman have a 90-day allowance within 180 days; Qatar's entry specifies tourism and transit for up to 90 days within six months from first entry. Read the precise wording for your passport and intended activity.
  • e-Visa: An online option for eligible travellers who actually require a visa. Eligibility and any supporting-document conditions depend on the travel document; use the official e-Visa portal.
  • A Turkish mission or authorised centre: Use this route when the applicable rules require it, including purposes that cannot be covered by e-Visa. Obtain the relevant checklist from the mission responsible for your application.

Documents and information to prepare

  • A valid passport and a clear copy of its identity page. Meet the nationality-specific requirements; the general rule requires validity at least 60 days beyond the permitted stay.
  • A recent photograph, if required for a consular application.
  • Correct contact details, including an email address and telephone number.
  • An outline itinerary, with arrival/departure dates and accommodation plans.
  • For a consular application, any requested bank statements, employment evidence or travel insurance.

Application steps, if you need a visa

A) e-Visa, if eligible

  1. Use the official portal to select your country of travel document, document type and arrival date. e-Visa is for eligible tourism or business visits.
  2. Enter your personal details exactly as shown in your passport, including names, dates and passport number.
  3. Check the conditions and pay the displayed fee electronically.
  4. Use the download link provided after successful completion and also sent by email. Save the PDF and print a copy for convenience.

B) A Turkish mission or authorised visa centre

  1. Book as instructed, complete the form and prepare the documents required for your circumstances.
  2. Submit the file and pay the applicable charges as directed.
  3. Follow the application and collect your passport after the decision.

Processing and fees

  • e-Visa: The download link is available when an eligible application is completed successfully. Do not treat immediate issue as a guarantee for every case.
  • Consular application: Processing can take longer than a few working days, particularly during busy periods. Use the responsible mission's guidance.
  • Fees depend on the travel document and application route. Where the relevant visa exemption applies, there is no visa to purchase for that exempt visit.

Practical application advice

  • Match your name and other details to the passport, without spelling differences.
  • Use an active email address and check both the inbox and junk folder.
  • Keep flight and accommodation dates consistent with your intended journey.
  • Follow the instructions for your own case and avoid unverified intermediaries.

Mistakes that can cause problems

  • An incorrect passport number or expiry date.
  • Unclear or expired documents where documents are required.
  • Assuming that you can choose single or multiple entry freely. Follow the permission offered for your travel document and circumstances.

Frequently asked questions

Should I print an e-Visa? If you need and obtain one, keep the digital file and a paper copy as a practical backup.
Do children need a separate visa? Check each child's nationality, travel document and exemption. If a visa is required, the child needs their own visa permission; family application facilities do not remove individual requirements.
Do I need a transit visa? Check the requirements for your nationality and itinerary, including whether you will remain in the international transit area or pass border control. Confirm document checks with the airline and the relevant Turkish mission; the length of the airport wait alone does not settle the question.
