Local Amateur Football in Türkiye 2026–2027: Provincial Leagues and the Route to PGL
Organised neighbourhood football has a competition, age category and fixture list behind it. This guide explains provincial amateur leagues in 2026–2027 and how to identify a team’s group and programme before taking part or following matches. Organisational information was reviewed on 28 October 2026.
Identify the competition before the club
The local framework contains three senior levels: Süper Amatör Lig, 1. Amatör and 2. Amatör, alongside the announced U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U17 and U19 youth categories under the season’s statute. “Amateur” alone tells you neither the playing level nor the age group: one club can field senior and youth teams with different programmes.
Keep the complete Turkish club name, province, category and season in your search. If the same name appears in two tables, read the competition heading before comparing points. A local club named after a municipality or neighbourhood is not automatically an academy team attached to a professional club.
| Local level | What to check |
|---|---|
| Süper Amatör Lig | The highest provincial senior level and its provincial competition rules |
| 1. Amatör /2. Amatör | Division, group, promotion and relegation in the local rules |
| U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U17 and U19 | Category-specific birth years and fixtures; do not reuse the senior schedule |
Who sets groups and fixtures?
The provincial organising committee, İl Tertip Komitesi, prepares local competition rules and fixtures within the TFF framework, subject to the federation’s required approval. Decisions are announced through the provincial football representative, working with the relevant bodies including the amateur clubs association, ASKF.
Look for İl Müsabaka Esasları and Fikstür: the former explains the competition structure, while the latter allocates matches. Read the promotion and tie-breaking arrangements, then find the current week’s programme. An old draw graphic can identify a group without confirming the latest venue or kick-off time.
A real Ankara example
On 13 October 2026, Ankara’s amateur clubs association announced its senior Süper Amatör draw: 24 teams in two groups of 12. Group one includes, for example, Bala Spor and Kavaklıdere Spor; group two includes Çubuk Spor and Pursaklar Bld. Spor.
That describes Ankara’s structure for this season, not a national rule requiring every province to use two groups or 24 clubs. The draw announcement alone did not establish every fixture or the number of promoted clubs in the text reviewed. Those details belong in the provincial competition rules and subsequent programme.
For practical follow-up, choose one team and record its group, the latest programme update and the next ground. Someone tracking a promotion challenge needs the club’s position within its own group, rather than a direct points comparison with another group that may have played a different number of matches.
Local promotion and PGL
Provincial amateur football connects clubs through local promotion and relegation, while PGL—Profesyonelliğe Geçiş Ligi—is a separate competition with its own statute. The word Süper in a local amateur league does not make it the professional top-flight Süper Lig.
To investigate a route into PGL, identify the province first, then read that season’s approved qualification arrangement and the decision confirming the club’s entitlement. Winning a group alone does not prove final promotion: a local deciding phase or further participation requirements may remain.
Keep “group leader”, “qualified for a deciding phase” and “promotion approved” separate. Each needs different evidence. This prevents a celebration report or a final-match result from being treated as a governing decision that has not yet been issued.
What players and families should ask
There are material eligibility differences between the senior divisions. For example, the provincial Süper Amatör rules do not allow foreign players to play, whereas the first and second local divisions permit the registration and fielding of two subject to the amateur-player instructions. A club’s statement that it accepts foreigners therefore needs a specified team and division.
For a minor, ask which birth year and actual competition apply and who handles licensing and registration confirmation. Joining training or paying football-school fees does not establish inclusion in an official match squad. This route also differs from club development leagues and Türkiye’s age-group national teams.
Before committing, request the training timetable, ground, away-match arrangements, written costs and a parent contact. Club fees and services differ; no verified universal amateur-club tariff is given here.
Read the fixture and table correctly
For a match, check both teams, age category, group, date, kick-off and ground. A club name is not a venue address: training and official games can use different locations. Follow the organiser’s latest announcement when a programme changes.
In the table, check games played, penalties and awarded results. Equal points do not necessarily mean overall goal difference is the first deciding criterion. Consult that competition’s tie-breaking article before declaring a position settled.
| Question | Information needed | Relevant source |
|---|---|---|
| Where and when do I play or watch? | Latest approved category/group fixture | Provincial football representative or organiser |
| Has the club been promoted? | Deciding phase and approved outcome | TFF and provincial competition rules |
| Is a player eligible? | Registration, age, nationality and suspensions | Club and competent registration body |
Plan your follow-up or visit
Save the competition page and club details, then recheck the week’s match before setting off. Ask about spectators, any ticket or registration requirement, seating, access and your return route. An amateur designation does not establish free admission or an unrestricted public stand.
When accompanying a child, agree the meeting point, responsible adult and finish arrangements with the club. When sharing a result with supporters, include its age category and province so that a youth or local fixture is not presented as a first-team match.
Common questions
Is Süper Amatör the Süper Lig?
No. The former is a provincial amateur level; the latter is the professional top flight.
Does Ankara’s programme apply nationwide?
No. Each province has its approved rules, groups and programme.
Does training with a club guarantee official participation?
Competition eligibility and registration must be satisfied; attending training is not enough.
Are amateur matches free to attend?
Check the event and venue instructions; no universal free-entry rule is established here.
