The area around Akçadağ combines the landscapes of Levent Valley with Sultansuyu's horse-breeding heritage. Make the valley the main purpose of a trip from Malatya, then add the farm only after confirming that it receives visitors. Being in the same district does not make the two places a single stop.

🔭 Start at the Viewpoint

Cliffs, rock formations and caves define Levent Valley's scenery. Begin at the designated viewing area and take time to appreciate the length of the valley before choosing any additional route. Much of its appeal lies in these expansive views.

Check which viewing facilities are operating on the day; photographs may show areas that are not currently accessible. Shorten the outing if strong wind or poor visibility makes it less enjoyable.

🥾 Walking and Photography

Keep to permitted paths and viewing areas, staying back from rocky edges when taking photographs. The caves mentioned in tourism descriptions are not necessarily equipped for independent visits. Choose an established route for a longer walk and avoid unclear tracks.

For a family outing, a suitable viewpoint and a comfortable break may be more valuable than a long distance on foot. Bring water and sturdy footwear, save the car's location before leaving it and agree a finishing time so there is enough time to return.

🐎 What Makes Sultansuyu Distinctive?

Sultansuyu operates within the state agricultural enterprise TİGEM and is known for breeding purebred Arabian horses. Established in the nineteenth century, it remains a working production and breeding enterprise, so a visit involves different arrangements from a park or leisure attraction.

Contact the farm's management to ask whether visits are possible and whether permission or an appointment is needed. Check directly before expecting daily tours or public horse riding. Enter breeding areas and approach animals only as staff instruct.

🗓️ A Flexible Two-Stop Day

Spend the first part of the day in Levent Valley, followed by lunch and a break. If a farm visit is confirmed, fit it around the agreed appointment. Otherwise, devote the day to the valley rather than waiting at the farm gates.

Save the Turkish names Levent Vadisi and Sultansuyu on your phone and pin each location separately. When booking a driver, explain that the farm stop depends on confirmation, with a return journey or a break at an open roadside establishment as the alternative.

🌱 Levent and the Geopark Project

A programme introducing the Levent Valley geopark project took place in 2026, reflecting interest in its geological formations. The existence of the project does not establish that UNESCO Global Geopark status has been awarded.

Before leaving Malatya, check the weather, site entrances and available facilities. Choose a programme that suits your time and the group's walking ability, leaving city shopping until after your return.
